Default Wild West Journalizm

Pressure from the Florios of the world have helped to cause this attmosphere. (he looks like Eddy Munster to me by the way. Those videos that they make should start with background music from dark shadows. Maybe he should like wear some fangs and rise up out of a cript or something)

There is far less accountablility. As we have seen, it really doesn't matter what is right or wrong. Just produce site hits.

This fiasco that we have endured is more of an indication that something has changed in journalizm. There has been some kind of shift. We all feel that it is personal, and it surely is, but there may be something else going on.

There will be other issues that come about in the future. Other teams will have problems, and the journalist will be scrambling to report and keep their jobs. Yes, this has always been the rule. But, I feel that the intensity has changed in a big way.

It is my opinion that this change really came about as a result of Florio and the Vick case. Most sites seemed more than happy to just let the story die. Perhaps they felt that it just wasn't worth the trouble. Do you guys remember how it looked as if the whole thing was going to be squelched. But Florio would not let it go. He just kept hammering away. At the time, I thought that it was awesome. I still do actually. But, I am seeing it now as a powderkeg situation that taught the other sports sites that there is a lot of money to be had, (site hits) if they could do the rumor thing. In many ways, he was way out front of these huge news organizations. He saw an oportunity, and he pounced.

They did have rumor sites started before Vick, but I have a feeling that pressure associated with that story changed the way site managers looked at the rumor aspect of their sites.

The reporting really got bloodthirsty once the story got going. Now, it is almost as if Florio is setting the pace of reporting. "Just by chance he crossed the diamond with the perl" Donald Fagan. Now, everyone is hustling and the truth is not really that important.

Hey, maybe it will all calm down. Or, maybe we will continue to be the most hated team ever. But, I think that the next problem is right around the corner. It will go on for a bit until a rash of slander law suits come out.

It cracked me up the first time I saw one of those vids. He stares at the camera in a way that creeps me out. I immediately thought about how and why he didn't work for ESPN anymore. (He did work there didn't he?) If he stared at people with that all knowing look, it probably made people say, we gotta get rid of this dude.
