If you read what bengals fans think. they feel they just have to show up and they have this game in the bag. They think the Pats are an 8-8 team at best

I have learned to never second guess Belichick in opening games at home. Especially against a team for which he has lots of applicable film, like the Bengals.

The games and teams that he has the most trouble with are teams with a new QB he has never seen before, or a team executing a new or novel offense or defense.

I guess I was not surprised that the Rams rookie QB befuddled the Pats in preseason or that Sanchez did fairly well in the first NYJ game last year, or
that Henne had a good game against them too.

I will always remember the unveiling of the Wildcat, or 1930s Single Wing by Saprano and the Dolphins too.

Beating Brady and Belichick at Gillette on Opening day is a hard task that befalls the Bengals this season.

Pats win, comfortably. The run defense is repaired and tough; and the Chung steals a pass from their TE. Pass rush pressure re-appears from the interior DL and ILB blitzes.

[QUOTE=mgteich;2169436]That other receiver that you have with single coverage has led the league in pass receptions for a couple of years.

Welker is more of a slot guy instead of a WR and he too will get doubled. The guy opposite Moss should be lightly covered by their 2'd or 3'd DB.

Of course all this talk about receivers and TEs is great but Brady still has remain upright for more than a couple of seconds. And the defense has got to be able to get off the field.

This is great news. Hopefully the Bengals feel the same.

Those poor Patriots. Losing their All-pro guard and DE. Losing their best cornerback and starting a bunch of peach-fuzz rooks. There is no way they can win....

Bingo.

I think most people will be surprised that the Patriots have a decent team. We're not loud enough for the media's blessing.

“On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson..they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had 1 sacks last season in the pass-happy SEC and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”

For me its preparation and TC on the 1st game. I watched the Bengals TC, and was pretty disappointed. It seemed more of a photo op at times and less hard hitting. I think the preseason showed this.

Im being objective here because I also saw the Patriots TC. I think this game is a hit in the mouth. The bengals defense is really good with the front seven. They will come and hard , but I see that happening to little to late.

If BB plays this game the way I think he will, cover the WR talent and watch them get frustrated because the bengals dont have much of a TE threat.
I can see things getting out of hand in NE favor. But I can also see the Patriots missing secondary marks and coverage. But I dont see NE losing this game.

Im going
46-10 NE
or 31-21 NE

I just dont think the Bengals have put in the time in TC, just my opinion.

Neither Bradford, Sanchez, or Henne were responsible for the "befuddling." The first string had the Rams in the bag by the time they were done. Last year Brady did awful in his 2nd game back, and much better the 2nd time around, and it was the wildcat that did in the Patriots last year but as we know it was an one time thing and will continue to be so.

Of course, there will be surprises.

Finally, if Cinci is suprised by seeing Grankowski being a dependable receiver and blocker, he probably should fire his scouts. Grankowski is hardly a surprise.
Cincinnati's scouting budget is a mere fraction of New England's ... check out the Bengals' scouting department in action.
