Feel bad for Romeo and Browns fans - New England Patriots Forums

Year after year it's injuries or picks not panning out.
Dallas might have the overall pick next year from Cleveland.
Man, it's gotta be tough for those fans.
They NEED to see Brady Quinn out there just to start enjoying some sort of hope with a player they hope can be a glamour player they can be proud of.
Cleveland, K.C, Oakland...worst of the lot.

There's a long way to go yet - but as I thought the day of the draft, the Browns probably were better off taking one of the good group of second round QBs last year and keeping their #1 than spending them both on Quinn.

I don't feel bad for Romeo. He's a grown man who got his shot. He'll have plenty of opportunities to go somewhere as D coordinator. I think the future is OK for the fans as I think Quinn will be something special.

That's true, but I'm not sure Quinn needs to be subjected to the horror that would be the Pats D (remember--the Pats D eats rookie QBs for breakfast).

I don't feel bad for Romeo. Simply put, he's just not a good head coach.

Well, I don't know. I really wanted Romeo to do well, but Cleveland is the place where head coaches go to die. He probably figured he would take any shot he got, though.

Not really taking the time to analyze the situation, I won't try to find an excuse for Romeo. Certainly in any job, there are things you can't avoid, but when given the time to correct and get on track, at the end of the day, you have to look in the mirror and admit maybe it's not the right situation or you're not the right person for the job.

I hope it works out for him, as he's a class individual, but yesterday's game is a clear indication of more of the same. The only other thing is that if Romeo is fired, let's hope he's not the scapegoat, as the GM and scouting department must take responsibility in this as well. However, spending that much money on players like McGinest (as much as I loved him with the Pats) at this point in his career is foolish. It's a zero-sum game with the cap, and money needs to be invested wisely in players.

I agree with PFS74 and Fixit; I don't feel sorry for Romeo. He was/is a very good DC; had he stayed here, he'd have won another SB and more down the road. He chose to reach for the brass ring and become a HC; I can't blame him for that as he took the best financial situation for him.

Maybe he will thrive in another situation as a HC or go back to being a DC, time will tell.........

If the Browns are as bad as they look like they might be, Quinn had better be special. If not they traded something like Kevin Kolb and what looks to be a STUD player in 2008 for him. It's way too early to make judgments but Quinn might have to be Tom Brady special to make that trade look good.

The Browns were completely devoid of talent when Romeo got there. Look at their draft for the 4-6 years before he took the job. ZERO hits. They didn't just squander picks, they bam boozled the top picks in the draft. I thought the Browns massively overpaid for Quinn. I'd have told Jones they could have the 2nd and a 3rd, but NEVER the 2008 first. That pick is a sure fire top 5 pick, and might be the top one overall.
