there's no video, but I will admit to doing a big "woo hoo!!" as I drove to the stadium and heard it confirmed that he was there.

Isaac -- that's not a bad question, actually. The $7.79mil is guaranteed, but if Asante had gotten hurt working out all these weeks, he would have been stuck...

thanks again all, and as I said, I truly hope this isn't the last big story you get out of me

If its the last big story we get out of you, we'll be very disappointed. You're doing a great job. Keep up the good work on helping to push the "OLD GUARD" (Borges, Shaugnessy, Ryan, Felger, et al) on to greener pastures so that we actually start getting real journalism again. Reporters like you, Albert Breer, Mike Reiss and Chris Gasper are doing a great job of providing the readers/FANS with unbiased information so we can form our own opinions instead of telling us what our opinions should. And its greatly appreciated.

That's the trouble with modern media, no self promotion with tacky dance steps.

SMY, we love you. This delay'll just make for a better story. In the meantime, any juicy details? Angry phone calls?

Some want the juicy details...I'm more curioous one's take on this new twist that he hasn't signed the tender. He's in town, he's at Gillette but....not biting so far on the money. I know it's been speculated that he and his agent are not in lock synch...is this more a Mr Samuel thing or?

Just to be clear, the "juicy details" I was referring to IS this twist re: the tender, and if SMY has called her source to kick the ever-living snot out of him.

SMY's UPDATE:

Samuel not yet signed

Hey all -

Wanted to post an update on the Asante Samuel situation. We have had it confirmed that he has not yet signed his one-year franchise tender. He has reported to Gillette Stadium.

The NFL Network has reported that Samuel's agents are trying one last time to get New England not to franchise the 26-year old again in 2008.

We'll post more as we know more.

I think THAT might be interesting....report?? Well not really..at Gillette and???
This has to be weird though. He's only hurting himself in all of this..and frankly..looking mighty dumb with this last minute BS.

The rest of us ink-stained wretches are all swimming in Shalise's wake the next couple of days--good job, SMY.
