I doubt it would happen since the Pats and Jets have as much love for each other as ... well the Pats and Jets.. I dont know if that would be a good 1 and 1 swap for the present, but the future would be pretty good at corner..

I'd bet Mangini wouldn't be interested. Revis is pretty inexpensive compared to what Samuel wants. I'd expect the Pats to demand more than Revis in trade too.

Samuel is a legitimate starter. Revis isn't yet. He might be in the future but that wouldn't help us this year. And we'd have to get more than Samuel for Revis straight up anyway.

I offered up that possibility to Jet fans over at JI earlier this week. I proposed the Pats give the Jets Samuel for Revis and a 2nd round pick next year. Its a deal that works for both teams. The Jets have the cap room. Samuel is young enough to give the Jets a top 5 CB for the next 5 years.

For the Jets: They weaken a division opponent for a year or so. They solidify their secondary for the next half decade. A DB of Samuel, Rhodes, Coleman, and Dyson, would be one of the better foursomes in the league. They need that strong defensive backfield while they build their DL and LBs. With Samuel that happens IMMEDIATELY.

For the Pats: They get rid of a distraction. They have the overall defensive strength to be able to wait a year or two while Revis develops into a #1 CB. He has the size that is lacking in our current CB group. He is good enough to contribute immediately even if he isn't a starter. he also can play the return game. It give us 2 young studs to go with Hobbs, plus it will give us SIX first day picks in the next draft. I'd even do it for a third round if my feet were being held to the fire. Revis, Merriweather, Hobbs, Gay, is a nice nucleous of the next generation of DBs to continue this success pattern.

Clearly the best DB THIS YEAR would have to have Samuel in it. but I believe that the offense and the current CB depth we already have, would allow us to continue to be one of the favorites to get to the superbowl, and in the long run Revis would be a better value for the Pats...at least for the next 5 years.

Ridiculous. Why trade for a completely unproven player?

Because it would have been like trading Samuel for this year's 14th overall pick before the draft. That makes it less than ridiculous. Personally, if they throw a 3rd rounder next year I'd be all over this deal.

This is a juvenile thread based on something that has absolutely, positively NO CHANCE IN HELL of ever happening.

I hear we are going to trade Rodney Harrison for Champ Bailey too

Makes as much sense as this farout thread

Don't we have anything else to talk about besides stupid imaginary trades in fantasyland?

When is that freakin first week already before stupid posts become contageous

The summer sucks

For a guy that has had great posts here at patsfans, Patfanken This was by far the worst fantasyland stuff I have ever seen you write,Hope you can make us forget this one with another good post or better idea in the next one.
