The NFL regular season does not start until Sept. 6 when New Orleans visits Indianapolis to take on the defending Super Bowl champion Colts. But it's never too early to start breaking down the schedule. USA TODAY offers you a look at five games featuring the league's biggest contenders and five more where some angry grudges will be settled:
-----
San Diego at New England (Sunday, Sept. 16)
-----
New England at Indianapolis (Sunday, Nov. 4)

San Diego at New England (Sunday, Sept. 16)

The last time we saw these squads LaDainian Tomlinson was steaming mad about some of the Patriots dancing at mid-field in San Diego after sending the Chargers home during the divisional playoffs. Now the Chargers look for payback as they travel to Foxborough after their would-be dream season was derailed by Brady, et al.

Am I the only one who just sees this as one more game against a team with a winning record? For us and for San Diego?

I know Charger fans have creamed their jeans over this game, but really, are the San Deigo players themselves really after payback for a victory celebration?

I doubt it. It's a game they want to win, not because Hobbs danced or Tomlinson and Rivers lost their cool, but because it might be a key tiebreaker come playoff time.

I always look forward to playing hte Jests, and Indy has replaced Pittsburgh and Oakland as a great rival, but the Chargers? Come on.

This article has a lot of lame matchups he calls grudge matches. Browns vs Dolphins is a grudge match because Dolphins didn't draft Quinn and hte Browns did. Huh?

The Chargers will be a little more pumped than they are for most games, but then again the Patriots are used to that. Every team gets extra pumped to play us because the Pats are the team to beat and have been for a few years.
