Nick Harper beat (allegedly) his wife in '05, she had a mark on her face to prove it. She stabbed him in '06 so it looks like she got even - he played for two more seasons with the Colts after the arrest.

Mike Doss fired a gun near a crowd at 2 in the morning and was charged with a felony, he stayed on the team.

Darrell Reid (D lineman) was just arrested for pot, a practice squad guy (Burns or something?) got clinked for disorderly conduct etc.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Does anyone else see the irony in this statement?

And Dwight Freeney was arrested for impersonating a dominating pass rusher in '05.

My logic is not stupid, as you put it. The season was done. The free agency signing period may not have begun, but they days playing for the Colts were over.

Funny you should start a COLT thread on a Pats board! Obsess much??
You miss the point. The Pats establish a reputation for using character as a large part of the criteria for personnel acquisition, and now are being blasted with theiir recent acq's. OTOH, no ones gives a hoot about who/what the defending SB champs acquire.

So don't flatter yourself. The Colts are the de facto squad to be compared to. But this is still a Pats thread, not a Colts thread. Were the Bears the champs, we would probably be looking there for examples.

Not when you take it in context.

The whole Patriot standard of character was created by the media after the Pats won in '03. I certainly think character factors into Belichick's thinking when rating a player to draft or sign, but he will also overlook a background if there isn't a trend and the player can fit into his system that promotes a "team-first" atmosphere. Before the Moss trade, I was against it, but I have never personally met Randy Moss and Bill has, so I'll take his word for it!

I too was not for Moss previously but geting a nice #1 pick for 2008 PLUS Randy Moss at a low cap hit for the perfidious He-Who-Shall-Never-Again-Be-Named seems like a good deal with minimal downside.

I will refrain from judgement until I see what he does as a Patriot.
