Default Moss ran 4.28 40 for Pats prior to trade.

Read this little tid-bit in one of the Florida papers. Pretty sick time considering he's been a tad injured, and unproductive the last couple of years. I guess he still may have the ability afterall.

The NFL is abuzz with tales of how Moss impressed the Patriots with the renewal of his work ethic deep inside Dolphins country in Boca Raton, running a 4.28 40-yard dash. He agrees to restructure his contract dramatically from the $9.75 million the Raiders would have owed him.

It either didn't happen or the Pats are guilty of tampering. You can't just work out players under contract with other teams unless they have permission to seek a trade, which Moss didn't until late Saturday night.

Bill Belichick said on WEEI that the Pats never worked Moss out before the trade.

There were other reports that his times were done with his trainer without any team. If that was the case, I would be weary of the times.

hogwash

Moss was training on his own.

He did however run a 4.29 in front of Belichick on Sunday AM in Foxborough during his physical.

True. Fiction is stranger than fact. Was it wind-aided?

It was raining Sunday morning. My guess is he ran it inside. If not, that's even more impressive.

Maybe Belichick was standing behind him and exhaled while he was running.

Every little bit helps.

Yep, I heard the same thing. They asked BB straight out about that rumor and he flat out said, "That never happened."

He ran it in the middle of a swirling monsoon, with 1" of rain falling in the span of only the few minutes prior to the dash. It was outside, and it wasn't on grass or turf, it was on sand, which combined with the torrential onslaught to Moss' disadvantage. The papers said 4.29 but he actually came back to the starting blocks 4.29 seconds before he departed, thereby proving Einstein's special and general theories of relativity. Prior to running, he ate a stack of pancakes it took 30 men to pour out of a cement mixer into a giant griddle made out of a tanker hull, and he has a blue ox named Babe.

Any other freakin questions?
