Default Something that worries me about Stallworth

Stallworth has the talent and all of the makings of a true #1 star receiver BUT ..If he is so good and was so valuable to his previous teams why did they let him go?

Was it because he was injury prone?
Was it a chemical problem they did not want to deal with?
Was he a problem child in the locker room?
Was he just too overpaid and the previous teams decided it was not in their best financial matters to keep him because he was not worth the big bucks even though they would have been somewhat O.K. cap wise to keep him?

My biggest concern is the fact that his previous teams have coaches who are truly 2 of the best in the game - Sean Payton who has been a big factor in making every QB and his WR core look good in the past 7 years (something like coaching 4 3,000+ yard passers in a row (including Bledsoe) when he was OC/Passing coordinator) - He is to be respected with anything offensive related

And of course Andy Reid who is no doubt in the top 5 of the best HCs in the game and a great offensive mind himself.

Why did Andy and Sean let him go without making a big push to keep him? - I hope we find out its different this time around....2 Good coaches usually keep a player they think will be a important piece of the puzzle to win a championship..With Donte,They said "I'll pass, you can sign him".

Stallworth has missed 4 of the last 44 games. Dieon Branch has missed one game more due to injury the Stallworth over there careers (same amount of games). Stallworth is here for cheap money bound by a flexible one year deal. If he works out it will be a tremendous move. If not they move on after this season. There is a ton of upside in this kid.

Ohh well, the hell with Philly. All I know is we got a player who averaged 19.1yards per catch last season, runs a low 4.30, and really wanted to come here.

Im sorry, but this "injury prone" stuff is a bit overblown if you ask me. Out of the last 44 games Stallworth missed 4. He missed 12 of the 68 total games he has played. He has missed less time then Deion in the same amount of games.

With the way Stallworth's deal is structured, The affordable price, the kids ability, and his speed, I think it was a tremendous move.

A good situation and winning can do wonders for a "sore hammy"......

I think last year in Philly was the first year people started to become really impressed with Stallworth.

Yes, he's still got alot to prove, but I think it's not necessary to be overly concerned about him, I think he's going to do really really well here in New England.

Some young men need time to mature.

I'm optimistic.

Not confident, but optimistic.

He wasn't exactly let go. He was traded once. Now he's a free agent.

He wound up on the Pat's because he wants $5-6M/yr kind of money, and nobody wanted to pay it.

Rather than take what he can get, he has decided to try and prove it by playing with the game's best QB for a year.

Not worried as essentially he is here in a great system, with a great QB and playing for a contract. Great opportunity for him, do not expect anything less than a superb effort.
