If Dillon doesn't find Full Time Duty, any chance he comes back?
It seems apparent that Corey Dillon wanted out of New England so he could join a team that would use him as the full time running back. This would allow him to rack up the yards for one more season, and potentially move up a few spots on the all time career rushing list. He already has one a Super Bowl, so I guess I can't blame him for trying to polish up his personal career goals in what will probably be his last season of duty.
But anyways........
What if he can't find a team that will give him 300 carries?
Is there any chance that he would come back? After all, he must be aware of all the acquisitions the Patriots made in order to better themselves for the 2007 season. If you can't reach your personal goals, well, then a legit shot at ring #2 seems like a good consolation, right?
What teams do you think are still in the mix for the Corey Dillon sweepstakes? The two teams I had him possibly going to already have a premiere runner (NY Jets and Baltimore).

hes gone the pats released him and he obviously is not playing for the min, so the answer its not going to happen
Re: If Dillon doesn't find Full Time Duty, any chance he comes back?
Dillon is done in New England. I don't think he gets a full time job anywhere. The only teams with a clear hole at RB Buffalo and Green Bay, and there are plenty of highly rated prospects available in the draft.
Dillon could probably find half time work in either of those places, as well as Indy, Houston, maybe Pittsburgh.
Re: If Dillon doesn't find Full Time Duty, any chance he comes back?
I think there is a small chance he could return and it is very small. Two things in the way he could make good on his retirement claim if he doesnt find what he is looking for. 2nd I bet he has barely started looking vets like to wait until later in the offseason so they dont have to report to a teams offseason program. But when things get going for him if he isnt finding a home and doesnt want to hang them up there could be a spot for him at close to vet min. I guess a third obstacle for his return would be the front office are they truly ready to move on without him or was his price just to high for his production meaning if the price was right would they still want him??

I don't think it seems apparent that that was his reasoning at all. I think he spoke the unfiltered truth after the AFCC game when he told his teamates he was done. I think he meant after 2005-2006 he realized it was no longer capable of performing as a feature back and he had little interest in hanging around as an inexpensive short yardage specialist because the effort involved to be that remains pretty much the same, only the carries and compensation decrease.
But anyways........

Even by his agent's admission that is not what he's looking for. The agent thinks he still has 10-15 carries a game left in him which would be 150-200+ carries. And that is likely wishful thinking.

Nope, not for Dillon. Corey's achilles heel is his ego. He harnassed it to prove Cincy was wrong to replace him in 2003. He knows as well as BB did that he could not prove NE was wrong to replace him in 2006-07 because physically he was rapidly wearing down. While he might have cracked a thousand yards last year out of necessity had Maroney not been drafted, he wouldn't have cracked it by much because he was opting out frequently even in a split carries situation.

I don't think there is or ever was a sweepstakes except perhaps from a possible financial perspective in his agents mind. I think he believes there may be some cap flush team that will offer Corey enough guaranteed money to rethink his instincts for a season because they are willing to overpay for short yardage and emergency insurance. And that scenario may still emerge come July when the dust settles on this off season. But with a $3.4M existing dead cap it will not emerge here. Nor will it likely emerge in Indy or Pittsburgh because of their tight cap situations.
