Default How much do you think they have left?

Tedy Bruschi? Rodney Harrison? Kyle Brady? Kevin Faulk?

How many more miles(years) of productive playing do these players have in the tank (In your humble opinion)..Any other players you are weary of?

Just a change of pace kind of topic, and really start looking forward to seasons coming and our needs.

Not a bad question and something new to talk about.

I'll give my opinion on each player individually

Tedy Bruschi:
Probably going to be his last season regardless of what happens with the team. His play has declined but that's expected after you factor in his age and his recent injuries and heart issue. I think he gives it his all this one last season and plays his heart out and does an incredible job for his final season.

Rodney Harrison:
I could see him playing two more seasons max because his injuries are too often and too many now. He cant keep getting hurt and each time for an extended period of play. Hes a great player with a high motor that doesn't want to stop BUT his body just cant keep up with what his mind tells him to do. Two seasons top. Maybe after this season he hangs it up if we win a championship.

Kyle Brady:
The two years we signed him for will be fine. Why you ask?
Because he will not be used every down and wont be a legitimate go to guy to throw to. More often than not he will be a blocker and that's about that.

Kevin Faulk:
IMO Kevin's got a good two to three years of his current play level left in him. He doesn't play every down and when he does he makes plays and contributes in a variety of ways. He's probably the longest guy who will last out of the bunch you just asked about. He can possibly be our Troy Brown at RB for a few more years.

IMHO, if the Pats are smart, they will draft Tedy's and Rodney's eventual replacements on Day 1 of this year's draft. We could argue they have either one or two more years left in the tank, but that is the order of magnitude. They could both mentor young rookies this season and show them what it takes to last so long in the NFL.

Brady and Faulk have longer careers ahead of them, but certainly they are not spring chickens. I'd give them each 2-3 more years of high output.

Rodney and Tedy need new tires, an oil change, the transmission service, new brakes, an exhaust system, a paint job and a tune up. Other than that, they are good to go another 3000 miles.

If the Pats can win another Super Bowl, I think Bruschi and Harrison will have a tough decision whether to retire or stay. For the most part, I think Bruschi is gone whether they win or not, but Harrison might stay if the Pats fall short.

Kyle is good for two years and isn't in a demanding position.

Kevin Faulk is good for some time, as well. Like Kyle, isn't in expected to play an entire game so his tires are less worn throught out a season.

On the topic of Kyle Brady....do you see any scenario where Kyle doesn't make it out of TC? In other words...cut? I just wonder the same thing about how many miles he has left........and we always draft a few TE's anyways Interested in all of your opinions on K. Brady...thx

Not to be too pedantic but I'll never be weary of any of these guys, in that I'll never get tired of them being Patriots.

I might get wary of the concerns that develop as they get older though.

Sorry to be picky. Not intended as a criticism, just a clarification of what we're really talking about here!

I wish it was this easy ........it could take 100's of draftees at each of these guys positions to find that caliber of player

I like your recommendation that the Pats' plan for their replacement. But unlike you, I think they have already auditioned a couple for Rodney's successor. They discarded Dexter Reid and kept James Sanders. He was chosen Rodney's successor and have given him an opportunity to learn and play. Say hello to Sanders, he is ready now, a year earlier than planned, but he's here.

Regarding Tedy's replacement I hope to address that by drafting one (or two) of the four of Willis, Harris, Posluzny or DeOssie. If DeOssie is chosen, then they will start on working on Mike Vrabel's successor too.

I dont think theres anyway that Kyle Brady doesnt make this team out of camp unless he gets seriously injured and goes IR.

From many coaches around the league from guys like Shanahan to Hlmgrem and etc have said Kyle Brady is another LT on the field. He's that good at blocking people and he knows how good he is at it. he doesnt mind playing that role as long as thats what he knows hes going to do.

Im sure when Pioli and Belichick gave him the call and set up the meeting they told him your going to be this guy. We're going to set you up near the LT and sometimes at RT and you'll be an endzone threat.

Thats pretty much all he has to do. Block Block, catch a random pass here and there, be a threat in the endzone. And yes he can be an effective threat in the endzone, because the Patriots value the TE position as a scoring position through the air for a TD.

Hopefully that helps.
