Anderson, 35, was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday for soliciting prostitution at about 9:30 p.m., Sgt. Andy Hill said. The department's vice unit was conducting an undercover sting operation in south Phoenix when Anderson allegedly solicited an officer posing as a prostitute.

Anderson in fact has already set the record straight with a very reasonable explanation:

He thought the cop was a prostitute. Seems very plausible to me.

No sympathy for me, not after he agreed to sign with Pats, then went to Dallas.

He should have stayed on the Jets staff instead of taking off for the Cardinals. Probably wouldn't have gotten arrested solicting near the Meadowlands....

Maybe....but I would rather be busted for soliciation then driving into a burger pickup nakid....If I had to choose.

Ok.....time to come clean...I was more embarrased when I got caught nakid in a Burger King than when I got busted for solicitation.

RICHIE GETS BUSTED

Cardinals assistant Richie Anderson, considered a rising star in coaching circles, has been arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution.

The arrest came as part of a sting operation in Phoenix. Anderson allegedly solicited an undercover officer.

We assume the officer was a female, but nothing would surprise us at this point.

Anderson, a former Jets assistant, was hired by the Cardinals in January. He spent thirteen seasons as a player with the Jets and the Cowboys.

The entry page to the team's web site declares: "2007 Arizona Cardinals Football. Smart. Tough. Disciplined." It might already be time for a revision.
