yup
thats why i posted it
just wanted to let everyone know what area of the second rd we could get with the third bein the extra one

on the other hand, we could get the 26th or 27th pick in the second rd and a first rder next yr for the 28th, if those teams feel they will be in the same spot as last yr
some teams are dumb and think theyll be better than they will be, so u never know u might be able to get higher

In my opinion, I think the Pats stay right where they are and take whoever is there. Every mock I see has secondary players available in the late 1st. Picking up Willis would be nice and is a possibility at 24. If not, plenty of players that the Pats can use. The point of a 5 year contract is a very good and valid point. Peoli also stated he considers the last 1/3 of the draft the "sweet spot" where you get the most bang for your buck.

Also, the Pats don't need more picks. With their activity in free agency, they don't have a lot of slots available for rookies. Sure, maybe you get lucky (e.g. Colston), but I think if you see any moves by the Pats, it will be to move up in rounds 2-4 but packaging picks, not moving down from round 1 to pick up picks.

As far as Meacham, I like him myself, but not in the first round. I know he is rated late first/early second. I want secondary help and LB help. We can pick up a WR later, but I wouldn't cry if they did pick Meacham up at 28.

I have heard a few people say this and I agree but it leads me to believe we will move up not down, you take the extra picks you have and use them to move forward insuring that the 6 you get are the best possible 6 you can get. since we should get an extrat 3 or 4 you should parlay a couple of those into a two and stay put with the ones(obviously not the compensatory ones). I think we could get a good DB and a good ILB in the first RD and a good WR in the 2 or early third if we cant get into the 2nd.

oh yeah
i def think we'll move up
but we could get that 2nd and 3rd for the second 1st
and then move up in those spots etc
so we might move down, then up
i believe we did this to get geno

I've been tossing out the idea of trading down for two seconds for a while - specifically, Tampa's two 2nd's for our number 24 (less likely our 28) - hoping BB picks up on my wisdom and offers me a job.

Only upward move I'd favor would be for Landry, except maybe if Willis was there one or two picks ahead of us but that's all. Landry has the greater chance to be a mega-star, Willis would help but isn't a stunner like Landry, not even close.

If we trade with Tampa we'd essentially get three shots at a quality starter (our 28 and Tampa's two 2nds, early and late) in a pool of players with very small differences, difficult to be accurately assessed without time in the NFL. Below the top 10-15 in the draft, the next 20-30 players are so close rating them is a crap shoot, thus our odds go up with three picks instead of two and for less money to boot.
