Default Cardinals signed S Terrence Holt to a five-year contract.

Cardinals signed S Terrence Holt to a five-year contract.

Holt will fill a major void at free safety in Arizona. Holt played next to Pro Bowl teammate Adrian Wilson when the two were at N.C. State.

Good Move by the Cardinals to get Holt.

Too bad. Holt was my #1 target at FS. I thought that, if the price were right, he would have allowed Eugene Wilson to return to CB. I had wanted the pats to draft either Holt or RT Tony Pashos with their first 4th-rounder, instead of Dan Klecko. Score one for me. However, I also wanted the pats to take Holt or Pashos with their second 4th-rounder, instead of Asante Samuel. Score one for BB/SP.

Edit: Two other FA DBs are off the market - CB Lewis Sanders, who signed with Atlanta; and SS Tank Williams, who re-signed with Minnesota. All-Pros? No, but they both have size and a history of some accomplishment in the league. And if healthy, they will both contribute next season.

It's never a good nor bad signing until terms are disclosed.
