I am very surprised that Cameron is talking about Trading McMichael. McMichael is the type of TE that Cameron likes to have in his offense. At least, he did when he was with the Chargers and they had Gates.

My point here is. Asante so far has enough credibility to say hes a good corner, but the Patriots might not feel he's a 7.8mil/yr corner. If they can find something useful in a trade along with say a 1st rounder they might consider it.

And I don't see any reason for anybody to be a Dolphins fan let alone myself.

My hopes are the same as yours. Asante has a great season, he comes to an agreement with the Patriots for a say 4-5 year deal. The Patriots win the next 5 superbowls beating the Colts in the AFC championship each year. Just thinking it might play out different is all.

listen. do u know what a FRANCHISE tag is?

the tag means your trying to retain a FRANCHISE player. FRANCHISE player is 1 of your best

Samuel would not be getting the franchise tag if Patriots didnt feel hes very good and 1 of the best at his position

Just so I'm clear on this...

The pats will trade one of the best cb's in the league (last year anyway), a position where they do not have a ton of quality depth, to a division rival for a te where they already have plenty of depth?

I don't get it either. His contract isn't exorbitant, and this draft is thin at TE. Do they just want him out of the locker room?

He was franchised because his contract was up and the Patriots need the option to retain him at 7.8m due to the lack of corners in FA and because they have late 1st round picks...It was a good move.

You would be really suprised if they traded Asante Samuel?

Just because things have gone fast so far in FA and the Patriots haven't traded him yet doesn't mean much. It makes no sense to not to have franchised him, when they feel other teams would value him enough to compensate us in trade, and if you can't find the trade you're looking for, then your stuck with what is hopefully, a great corner.

In any trade I would have to think they'd be aiming at a high 1st round pick to get a corner they have their eyes on.

Would Dolphins need Asante? I'm not so sure they want Asante's 7+mil cap hit.
Well I would be shocked, but then I study the Pats and know a little something about their philosophy and their roster needs.

1. Asante for McM? NFW we'd put a strong player in Miami's D for a 3rd!
2. And trade him for in effect a 3rd which is what Miami wants straight up? Pats expect more for trading a Franchised player. That would be giving up way too much value.
3. With the K Brady signing, we have a well rounded TE corps, blocking & receiving.
4. The guy is a bad character. Myra would not approve.
