Default Bengals released LB Brian Simmons
It comes as a surprise considering Cincy's thin LB group, but the warning signs were there. Simmons was due to make $3.3 million, couldn't stay healthy all season, and is recovering from knee surgery. He also wasn't a Marvin Lewis draft pick. The nine-year veteran should be able to get a job elsewhere.

real good player is a good character guy to , would fill the void in the middle until the young players get up to speed

If healthy, Simmons could be a very good fit in this defense having experience in the 3-4. He'd be the kind of veteran addition you'd expect the Pats to make, IMHO.

Looks like he would be worth a shot at ILB. The only problem is like all of our other LBs, he's on the wrong side of 30.

Since he was cut he can be signed before the free agency period begins.
