"I dealt with the snaps," he said of sharing the load with rookie Laurence Maroney last season. "In all honesty, it helped me more than anyone else. I stayed fresh. I'm injury-free. I enjoyed my time with my teammates. I have a bond with some of the guys and I'll miss the [running back] room. Those guys are my boys for life."

A quote from Corey Dillon

If you'd actually read the post your quoting instead of reminiscing about you heartbreaks you'd realize I said Maroney needs more carries. Dillon won't get carries here so he will go elsewhere or retire.

Last year he was coming off a devastating injury and was happy to stay fresh.

I'll repeat

Quote:
Note the quotation marks. Last year was last year. Dillon is healthier, Maroney needs more carries.

You make inferences based only on your own feelings and state them as facts.

I think Dillon's torn between retiring for his health or finding a team where he can get more carries towards a HOF vote.

I wish Corey the best.

At the RB position it is tough because when former superstars get into their early 30's they can see the writing on the wall. Everyone knows what needs to happen but no one wants to say it.

I hope Corey has success in whatever he decides to do. At least he can rest knowing he was a World Champion in 2004.

Bottom line is corey will retire rather than sit on the bench. Spend time with his family.

If he feels good I bet he'd like to add to his stats for the HOF.

Maroney needs to take off the training wheels and not lean on Dillon to get the tough yards. I don't see what's so hard to figure.

Can you say Eddie George and Emmit Smith?

He'll be plaing for either the Raiders or Arizona

Raiders? Maybe

Arizona? forget it-remember they have a HIGH priced guy named Edgerrin James,Corey would be lucky to get 6 carries a game there.

Green Bay or Baltimore are my picks to where he goes...Possibly the Jets

Corey Dillon is 32 years old. I'm glad for all he did for the Pats and wish him luck if he does move on to another team, but to think he "still has tons left in the tank" is simply idiotic.

THANK YOU Corey Dillon for that clock killing 2004 - very special.

Moving forward - Maroney is now our #1 guy and will do just fine. Faulk on 3rd down cannot be beat.

Pick up a big bruiser for short yardage and our running game is set.

Bring back Pass and draft a few for depth.

No problem here.....asa long as he doesn't go to the Jets that is.

im VERY confused

-Corey says he enjoyed playing here, enjoyed splitting carries and it was good for him

-Corey said hes retiring

-Corey says hes not retiring and wants to be released

-corey's agent says 8-10 touches doesnt show his ability he still has

so if hes not happy with 8-10 touches..how was splitting carries any good then if hes not happy?

w.e..i stand my by respect post and all that..i still respect his decision in ways. saving 4.5 million is a lot and i would of loved to see a restructure and come back but i guess its retiring or moving on

I don't have a problem with him wanting to go somewhere else but he didn't make those statements about how splitting carries helped him last year, he made them yesterday, now his agent says he wants to go somewhere to get more carries.

Some wonder if the agent is trying to get some interest in him from other teams and maybe Corey will get the edge again and the agent will have another small payday. I couldn't care less if he signs somewhere else, he did his job well for us and he's entitled to move on. However, you're wrong with the idea that he was happy splitting carries a month ago but since then he's changed his mind. Again, he made the comments less than 24 hours ago.
