Default The REAL reason Pats lost on Sunday

The absolute most real reason Pats lost on Sunday doesn't revolve around the officiating, the flu the uncharacteristic mistakes, the LB depth etc etc.

All THOSE WERE SYMPTOMS.

The cause the reason; comes back to the regular season. And I will point to the game versus the Jets.

If we win ONE MORE GAME; (and the one we MOST SHOULD HAVE WON was that one against the Jets.) then we get the Dolts at HOME. And we have one less plane trip to take and an extra day of rest after the SD game.

Last time Adam V was in pats land he missed FGs; think it couldn't happen again? Do you think Manning would have been anywhere near as good in the cold and outdoors???

It all comes down to EARNING THE RIGHT TO HOST GAMES; earn the right to determine your own destiny. They gave away too many games in regular season and had to go on the road and had to play an extra playoff game versus the Jesters. No bye-rest week. All that added up. Nuff said.

We'll have to fix LBs situation and CBs (SIGN SAMUEL puhhhhLEASE); to have a hope of locking up a strong schedule next year and get some home games. Let's see what BB & Pioli can come up with in what will likely be a low quality free agent year to fix those areas.

with a buttload of draft picks, i am sure we have some talent contributors heading out way...

also with the possibility of landing Briggs, is pretty big.

Out ST's needs to stiffen up IMHO, With Mel Mitchel-Tebucky Jones hopefully making comebacks, we should be good. This offseason we know the pats got it in the bag as far as the draft goes, but what worries me is the Grahambo-Samuel Contract situations.. I have a feelings We're keeping one and letting another go..

anywho, Your points are valid and true.

You can't go back, there are too many variables.

If we had one more win, we would have been the 3 seed and faced KC at home, then Baltimore on the road. Indy would have had to face Jets and SD. There would be no guarantee that Indy gets past SD to come to NE. We could have still had to go to SD after getting past KC and Baltimore.

Excellent post, I thought the exact same thing on Sunday...it was god damned freezing outside and I thought, "sure would be nice if they were at Gillette today."

Look at our SB winning years....see a pattern? HFA is very important, as is the bye week because the Pats are pretty much always beat up at this time of year.

Actually, we'd have been @SD as we'd have likely beaten Baltimore the previous week and SD likely would have beaten Indy. After watching the games I think it woked out for the best.

I'm not so sure about Indy losing to SD....I really think SD's attitude was one of invincibility this season. But, coulda woulda type stuff anyway, we didn't have HFA. The Jet and Dolphin games KILLED us during the Reg. season.

Right on! Great analysis! The AFCCG would most likely have been played in San Dogg instead of Indy. I don't think Indy would have gotten past the Chargers.

While I think Indy probably would have beaten the Jets,I don't see them beating SD in SD. FWIW,the Jets may have given Indy a run for it's money though.

We have Baltimore to blame for laying an egg against the Colts. Talk about squandering a bye and being unprepared. We certainly would have won an AFCC game in Baltimore.
