Default Scouts Inc Prediction

Scouts inc has the Pats winning 28-27. Says they think they will be able to be physical on both lines pretty much. However, does say that Indys WRs and Pats secondary is a major mismatch. One thing scouts inc gives the Pats the edge on that I'm not so sure about is special teams. Indy's coverage units have looked great in the playoffs so far and its hard to say they don't have the edge at K. Stopping Terrence Wilkins, something the Pats didn't do much of last meeting, will be key in winning. Hopefully the Colts coverage units are as inconsistent as they say they are and we can capitalize.

If we win I'd be very surprised if Maroney didn't have a big game. The Colts actually have done a solid job with less explosive, powerful backs like Dillon, Rudi Johnson, Anthony Thomas but have struggled with guys who can hit the hole fast and make defenders miss like Maroney, Mo Drew, etc.....

Can't think of anything else that hasn't been said (its all been said at this point) so everyone enjoying watching the game sunday and GO PATS!

I don't think that the Pats secondary and the Colts recievers as a mismatch is anything new-- it IS true. However, look at the numbers for the Colts recievers in the post season thus far. Awful. The Pats recievers have done a lot better-- which is actually pretty surprising considering that the Colts top recievers ARE a lot better than the Pats.

So how is it gonna be? Is it going to be Peyton Manning and his recievers of the regular season or the post? Is it going to be the Colts defense of the regular season or the post? Who knows.

the pats recievers have come alive. But will Brady turn it over 3 times again? (I personaly doubt it) If the D on the Pats stands as tough as they have (they were #2 in points allowed in the regular season) and run like they can on the dome capret, I say the Colts have some trouble.

Our secondary is no worse than that of Kansas City. If their offense had come to play they would have held the Colts under 17.

About Colts WRs and PATs seconodary mismatch. That may be true
but I believe the Gap has closed significantly in the last two months.
Samuel and Hobbs are really starting to get it. I don't think they'll get
beat deep too often if at all.

The solid and inspired play of OUR Sanders should also be a huge and needed factor today. Also, nickle & dime package with Mickens & Scott have really solidified things back there.

Last but not least, the calming influence of Artrell Hawkins has really kept this group together throughout the season - I cannot say enough good things about him.

If this group can simply hold their own today - we win in a blow out.

Of course their WR against our two CB is a mismatch. Duh. However their two CB against our FOUR CB isn't. And with Manning going to those two more and more, our secondary has less "other" threats to worry about now. Basically Clark. As opposed to Stokely, Clark and Pollard in 2003.

Well said.

At one time the Colts passing game was a five or six headed monster. Just like "Air Coryell" and "The Greatest Show on Turf'. Teams were blown out because they couldn't cover all of the threats: Harrison, Wayne, Stokley, Clark and Pollard And Edge James was a danger if ignored.

Now they have "only" three threats. Harrison 35, Wayne, and Clark. Addai is a threat if ignored, but there are fewer reasons to ignore him. Utecht is a pale imitation as a threat.

The great Colts offense is simply wearing down. Proof? They have had lots of low scoring games this season, unlike their prodigious 30-40 point games of old.

I also don't agree that our secondary is very poor. It may not have the players who have established themselves as long time stars, but it does have good veterans everywhere, and lots of them. Asante now looks like slightly poorer version of a rising Ty Law when he was young. Hobbs has much more talent than Otis, if not the smarts. (But OTIS is coaching him!) Scott and Mickens are easily the equal of Buckley and whoever. Even Hawkins and Sanders, our #3 and 4 Safeties, stand up pretty well. Hawk is smarter and sets the secondary Defense better than Milloy, and Sanders is a better tackler than Tebuckey ever was.

Lets not forget about Ben Utecht, Joseph Addai and Domenic Rhodes. While the Colts don't have Pollard, James, and Stokely, they do have other weapons and we'd be remiss if we ignored them.

I expect this to be a game as tough as the Chargers game because of the recieving talent the Colts have. However, if the Pats D-line wins the battle of the trenches, then the Colts passing game takes a large hit.

Utecht is a JAG, an afterthought. Addai is no more of a threat than James used to be. Stokely, Clark, Pollard or Clark and Utecht ? No brainer.

That's why Harrison and Wayne have gone from 50% of Manning's passing yards to this year's 63%.

Clark, Moorehead and Utrect. How many catches did Utrecht ahve last week?
The difference this year is the colts improved defense.
