Report: Dolphins offer Cameron head coach post

DAVIE – The Dolphins offered Cam Cameron their head coaching position Friday afternoon, according to a report on ESPN's Web site.

However, a source said Cameron has not officially accepted the offer to replace the departed Nick Saban and the hiring "is not a done deal."

Cameron, 45, has served as San Diego's offensive coordinator the past five seasons. He was reportedly chosen ahead of a 13-man field that also included finalists Jim Mora, Chan Gailey and Dom Capers.
I don't see any reason why he would turn them down. Apparently his record at Indiana University was abysmal.

This is the guy I have wanted all along. He has always had good offenses throughout his years and was responsible for Gus Frerotte's one pro bowl season (as his QB coach.) He has done a marvelous job in San Diego developing Antonio Gates, incorporating players like Michael Turner and Vincent Jackson, and getting the ball distrubuted throughout their offense.

Nevermind his Indiana record, how could anyone succeed at that school in football? I'm thrilled we got this guy to run the offense, he should go great with Capers great defensive mind. Good day for Dolphins' fans IMO.

Well he's probably the best option out of the remaining candidates. Despite having Ron Mexico as his QB, Jim Mora Jr. is a hothead who refused to make adjustments late in the game for whatever reason. Gailey is washed up and couldn't win with Aikman, Smith, and Irvin.

I would LOVE for Miami to get this guy - break up the Chargers a bit while the phins O comes to prominence (without a QB), their D continues to get OLD.

Me too. This is the guy who was Marty was supposedly delegating playcalling authority to, so they wouldn't be so "Martyball-ish". He is the one who gave LT the ball 9 times in the second half. That's real smart - you have the best RB in the NFL and you are trying to protect a lead so you let the rookie (in terms of actual starts) quarterback throw the ball instead of giving it to LT.

I love this move. It weakens the Chargers and the Fins at the same time!

Oh give me a brake, the Pats had no place winning a game where the ball bounced their way at least five times.

Damn, I was rooting pretty hard for Chan Gailey to get the job. Nothing like a horrible coach in the division! I yearn for the days of Wade Phillips, Herm Edwards, and Dave Wannstedt.
