Rivers, Tomlinson, and Kaeding go to pro bowl; Brady, Gostkowski et al keep playing !
It is such a contrast to see the 'personal' honors all of these 'superstars' get and then see Brady & his teammates just win the big important games. You just hafta love it.
Can we now say that Gostkowski is a money kicker ? Yes, of course he'll have to make quite a few more clutch kicks, but what a nice start !! Would Vinatieri have made the long one ?? You decide. For myself, I'm awfully glad we had Gostkowski instead of Vinatieri. Won't next weekend be fun ?!? (Get over it Felger)
Caldwell keeps playing. Branch gets to go home. Nice game Reche. Now maybe we won't hear all of these 'expert fan' opinions about how you are just a #2 receiver at best and how stupid Belichick and Pioli were to let Branch go. What a game !! I am so happy for you. Way to come back to your former team who didn't love you and take it to them !! !!
Guess signing Colvin turned out to be a pretty darned good choice by Belichick and Pioli. Love their results in signing free agents (where is all of the criticism now ?). How about the emergency filling in with Gaffney ? Pretty cool guys. Such a privilege to be a fan of a team that you guys build so carefully player by player.
I will be disheartened and disappointed if the Patriots don't figure out how to do something special for Troy Brown. Maybe Patriots HOF ? He has to be in it. How about some money for performing far beyond what they paid you the last couple years ?
Personally, I'm kind of glad that the Patriots used the pick on Dave Thomas. Huh. Maybe it wasn't too bad a choice compared to all the players some fans would rather have picked. Way to tough it out on the bottom of the pile Thomas.
Enjoy your vacation Merriman. Way to work in the trenches Light, Mankins, TEs, and RBs keeping Merriman in check enough for the Pats to win the game. You guys are stars where it counts.
Kinda sour grapes, huh Tomlinson ? Get over yourself. Enjoy your MVP trophy while you watch the Patriots on TV. What a s..tty two faced stupid rotten comment. 'Disrespectful' because the Patriots immitated Merriman's dance ? That Merriman uses to mock other teams over and over again all season ? Pure total hypocrisy. And what a braindead comment to throw in Belichick's name. My personal opinion - your class act just became a trash act. Pardon me if I don't think very highly of you from now on. I got news for you. Lack of class is making comments on the podium like you did, not celebration by a team who out-played you after being disrespected leading up to the game.
Tom Brady - what can you say. The legend continues to grow. One more come back win in the playoffs. How many does that make now ??
I didn't keep a scorecard on the pundits. Anybody have a nice little list of all the media 'experts' who have egg on their face ?? ?? ?? One MORE time ?!?!
I'm sure I forgot to comment on many different players. Maybe you can help me out.

Does anyone doubt that Borges and Felger were hoping Gost missed that kick?
Re: Rivers, Tomlinson, and Kaeding go to pro bowl; Brady, Gostkowski et al keep playi
I agree completely that Borges is just waiting for a loss and the fall of Belichick; he has the personal vendetta with him (as documented frequently here and on Boston Sportsmedia's site).
I disagree with Felger-- Not that Felger wouldn't love to rip into a missed kick and the rookie, but it's not in his best interest. As some have pointed out here in the past, Felger is about self promotion. He's got nothing (from what I can tell) against Belichick, and his only interest is being sensational and provocative (he's an entertainer, probably somewhat analogous to Rush Limbaugh in terms of being ratings-driven). I think 4 Downs with Felger, The Mike Felger Show, his Herald columns, and appearances on NEST all benefit from the longest Patriots run in the playoffs. A missed kick would mean banishment to that sports hole that most NFL cities are in now-- a lot less interesting and lower ratings for the media.

Even though Tommy had a poor game, for most of it, against SD it still boggles my mind that Rivers is in the pro bowl over him. Their numbers were really close and anyone with a brain would realize how much more difficult is was for Tommy with all new WR and no Tomlinson in the backfield.

At this point, the losses are not on Belichick. This year's team made it to the championship game against all odds.
What, you're going to criticize them if they lose to the Colts?

Surely, you'd agree that both Felger and Borges will blame BB for ANY losses at this point? I know Felger has promised on his radio show to stop his criticism of the Patriots front office (for this year) now that they've made it to the conference finals, but the "letting Adam go" voices will reach a crescendo if the Rookie does not match Vinateri's performance in the game.
I'm not criticizing the front office at all, just pointing out that others (i.e., the Haters) will criticize REGARDLESS of how the Pats would end up losing... I do think that letting Vinateri go was perhaps a too risky move at the time (yes, even though it seems to have worked out)-- but I think there was not much they could do because he had made up his mind to join the Colts. With the success the Pats have had in getting to the Conference Finals, it's foolish to criticize the sum total of work by the front office-- they succeeded in getting the Pats into a game that could take them too the Super Bowl.
