Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Herald ran a list of Schotty's post-season results. I hadn't realized how many 4th quarter leads he's actually blown.
What I'd be most worried about if I was a Chargers fan is his last three playoff appearances -- he's certainly shown no sign of improvement, and in fact based on recent history is regressing when it comes to playoff success.

Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer's postseason record, which stands at 5-12, will be the most discussed statistic this week. Schottenheimer earned the record through stints in Cleveland, Kansas City and San Diego.

1997 Denver 14, at KC 10 Div. No. 1 seeded Chiefs can't hold on late.
2004 Jets 20, at SD 17 (ot)Wild card Marty plays for FG in OT and misses

Take about no respect.
Ummm San Diego lowest output for the season was in week 3 to the Ravens. 13 points on the road.
next lowest was 20. We're averaging over 30 points a game.
So you're telling me that the Patriots are going to come into our house and hold us to the least point production of the year??? C'mon man. At least predict something a little more realistic.
If anything I see a close game. But there's no way you hold LT, Gates, Rivers & Jackson to 10 points that's just myopic.
Re: Schotty's playoff history (worse than I thought)
Several points:
This all means little. 0-1 in the last 8 years? and lost in 1997 to the eventual SB winners?
This "Schottsie will find a way to lose" idea is way overblown. If we play like we did last year, there will not be a meaningful 4th quarter anyway.
Does anyone consider that having a great regular season could be from overachieving with the talent you have? I've thought that the Eagles, for example, have been more successful than their talent over the last 5 years.
If we are doing old history, his Browns were known as the Cardiac Kids one year for last minute wins.
Although I do agree that the sneak at the end last year against the Jets was dumb, especially with bad weather and a rookie kicker (IIRC).
Re: Schotty's playoff history (worse than I thought)
There have been some postseason games where Marty has been out-coached.
There have been a lot more postseason games where his players simply failed to execute and the team lost.
Here's an example I always use.
In '04, the game was tied going into overtime. Bolts won the toss and drove downfield into field-goal range. Marty called runs to position the ball where Kaeding wanted it placed, which was the right hash-mark.
Then Kaeding walked on the field and missed the kick.
How many times has Belichik employed pretty much the exact same strategy in a tight game where a field goal wins? And how many times did Vinatieri come on and make the kick?
But Belichik's a genius and Marty's way too conservative and should have taken shots at the end-zone and blah blah blah.
Often it's the players that make the coach look like a genius (or an idiot), and not vise versa.
Re: Schotty's playoff history (worse than I thought)
The guy put the last one in just to push you Charger fans' buttons, and by golly did it work!
I don't think Schottenheimers past plays as much of a role as a lot of people. The important part is whether he adjusts or not well enough during the game. Both teams will have a good gameplan, but I think the difference will come in in-game adjustments, not on a poor decision by Schottenheimer at the end of the game.
