Default Think Belichick drafts 1 or 2 Crimson Tide players this year?

Since Saban left LSU it seems like LSU was not so big a target for picks in the draft for BB and the FO.

Now that Saban and Belichick are not competitors and seeing that Saban is best friends with Bill and now Nick being head coach in Bama,I wonder if we start looking at the Tides prospects in the coming years.

They always seem to have some good Linebacker cores there,I bet we take at least 1 guy coming out of Alabama in this year draft (not sure who is coming out or is eligible on the Tide squad)

Why this year? Saban won't know the players any more than anyone else.

Future years, maybe.

And they won't have received the coaching that I'm sure Belichick expects to get from a guy who's been with Saban for 4 years.

I was a big fan of that until Marquise Hill who came highly recommended.

He's still here, so they must see something, (God knows what?).

Rohan, no. Jarvis, Yes. Eric A., maybe. Randall Gay yes, maybe

Did we get any Michigan State players?

Maybe on day 2 or as an undrafted FA. Either way, it'd have little to with Saban. Also, though Saban obviously hasn't been there for a few years, there are at least three LSU players off the top of my head who have to be on the Pats' draft charts. Overall though, I agree that reconnecting a pipeline with Saban for future drafts is a good thing for this franchise.

This is a myth. From 2000-2004, Saban could have recommended 14 players out of 44 to the Pats, and that includes Tom Brady, whom we all know was sold to Belichick by Dick Rehbein. Of the 14 drafted players, only 4 beyond Tom Brady have done anything. They are Matt Light, Jarvis Green, Ben Watson, and David Givens.

Yes, he did suggest Eric Alexander and Randall Gay, but Alexander hasn't produced much yet (though he is showing signs) and Randall Gay has been injured the last 2 years.

One of the best years that the Pats drafted was when they picked players that Saban didn't coach or players he hadn't ever played against. That was 2003.

INteresting breakdown, never looked at it that way, perhaps the Satan connection is a product of bored media.

It's in between. As DaBruinz showed, the Patriots are very capable of drafting without being told by Saban who to draft. OTOH, we clearly brought in more LSU players than we did from any other school - same with Florida last year.
