After watching the Rosebowl I'd say Dwayne Jarrett climbs to the top of the list. Humm we traded Deion Branch for a 1st round pick. So kind of appropriate that the pick turns into his replacement right?

Let's look at his attributes shall we? 6'5" 210 lbs. A true #1 nfl prototype wideout. He just torched Michigan on 11 catches for over 200 yards and 2 TDs. He has completed back to back 1,000+ yards receiving seasons. In other words he has nothing left to prove in the college game.

I know some of you might be wary after seeing Mike Williams flop but I think the scouts will take very careful notes on this guy and if they like what they see I think adding Jarrett would finally give Brady a "go-to" weapon.

Forget about fantasy trades for Anquan Boldin. The Cards would not give a proven wideout and break one of the best WR tandems in the NFL for a 1st round draft pick. And no I don't think Andre Johnson is coming over from the Texans either. They got enough flack for passing on Bush, giving away their #1 wide receiver would NOT go over well with the fans.

So the best option to rebuild the receiving corps in a poor free agent market is through the draft. I don't know if Jarrett is the ONE yet, since a lot of stuff goes on between now and draft day, but he is surely one to keep an eye out for in 2007.

BTW do you think Leon Hall's stock dropped somewhat after today? It didn't seem like anybody in that wolverines secondary could cover Smith or Jarrett!

If we got Andre Johnson it would be the biggest fleece job in history. Give him a truly great QB and he's the best WR in the league. Heck, he was one of the top 3 this year with David Carr tossing to him.

Jarrett won't be Mike Williams. In fact, I don't know if there's anything wrong with Mike Williams, he could probably be a good WR if he was ever used. I don't think the Lions want to win. No reason to as long as fans keep going to the game, right?

We won't be getting the new CJ. Jarrett's a possibility, as is Ted Ginn. Ginn's more of an athlete though, and I'm always wary of Big 10 players because they have a tendency to bust... I just don't think the league is that good (the PAC-10 is the same way, though Carson Palmer proved me wrong there). I'd like to see them take a LB though.

Problem with Jarrett is we'd likely need to trade our #1 and #2, possibly both #1s, to get him. I have to say that I did like Pozluzny quite a bit although he looks lean. They called him 240, if that's what he is fine, but he looked thiner than that all over. If he has size potential to what Bruschi is now, I like him a lot.

I haven't begun looking at draft boards yet, but I am expecting ILB and DB to be a big focus this year with OLB, QB, WR being mid/late round foci. Of course, unless a Wilfork or Maroney drop to us...

I'm such a homer but I am in love with Paul Pozlusny. Last year he was lined up at OLB in a 4-3 and this year lined up inside in a 3-4. So he has versatility and proven he can play in both and accel. He is a great kid and a hard worker and I believe an academic all-american. He really embodies everything you want out of an athlete I just don't know if he has the size. I do believe he could be groomed for Bruschi's role though and is prob expected to be drafted in the latter half of the first round.

I don't think the Pats draft LB in round 1. However a CB or S is a definite possibility. Rodney isn't getting any younger. I anticipate Seau coming back next year and the Pats to draft another LB project in the mid rounds to develop. Keep an eye out on TBC if his performance is good in the playoffs you can pencil him in as a future starter.

Pats need to assign cap dollars to resign Asante I think. 10 picks in a season, that's gotta be some kind of a record for the pats right?

Patriots still need to shore up the WR corps. Whch is why I anticipate Jarrett being a possibility at #22.

PS I looked at Notre Dame's Samardzija and I think he has good physical tools but because he hasn't comitted to playing football, he says he wants to play baseball too, that drops him way down on my draft list. If you're going to be a 2 sport athlete theres always risk of injury from the other sport, so that doubles the risk for a team drafting that player. Not to mention scheduling conflicts as well as living conflicts. What if your baseball team is located on the west coast and your football team on the east coast? Yeah.

I also took a peek at Ginn Jr. The thing about this kid is that he lacks the production of other kids like Calvin Johnson and Jarrett who have both put up at least two 1000 plus yard seasons. Ginn's last two seasons were 800 and 700+ yards respectively. It's probably partially a product of the system but if the guy can't dominate college competition how will he do in the pros is what I have to wonder.

I say this because:

A) I didn't watch a second of any bowl game nor do I ever intend to.

B) I would recognize about .001% of the 700 players or whatever the NCAA roster size is.

This notion (and I'm not referring to anything specifically in this thread, but some things I've read/heard recently) that drafting a wide receiver is dangerous seems a little silly to me - first, any position can and will produce busts, secondly and perhaps more importantly, no position (WR) is more dependent on another position (QB) in determining the success of the player playing that position.

Would Charles Rogers or Mike Williams have flourished if they spent a few years playing for the Pats with Brady? You never know.

SOO in conclusion CJ could fall all the way to 14 where we could trade Seattle's pick and a second rounder....the Panthers would do it so they could select Troy Smith at 22, pay him less, and get an extra 2nd.
