My favorite "referee who should rot in hell" story - I read SOMEWHERE (no I don't remember where, and I don't have a link) that Ben Dreith and a reporter were watching the Snow Bowl, either live or on tape.

Ater the Woodson hit and/or after the Coleman call, Dreith leapt from his chair and started screaming "That was a fumble!" Hence my earlier comment.

I wish I had a link - I swear to you I read that.

Yes my board mates, bias among individual officials exists.

I'm not big on conspiracy theories, and I don't ever like siding with a moron like Joey Porter, but he was absolutely right when he claimed that the NFL was trying to set up the Colts to win that game against the Steelers. Absolutely horrible what they did with the apparent Polamalu INT. Almost seemed like things were being set up for Peyton and Dungy to get their fairy tale ending, and Vanderjagt screwed it up for them.

Also, I don't believe all calls are being blatantly called against the Patriots, but I do think there is some credence to what NEM said. About the Tuck Rule and the scrutiny that Walt Coleman faced in the aftermath. I'm not sure if referees have it out for the Patriots but at the same time bad officiating is what I fear heading into this playoffs more than anything after what happened last year.

I heard that on WEEI that year too. They actually had Dreith on the radio and he was angrily protesting the call Coleman made.

I heard that interview. Priceless. Man that old codger really had/has it in for the Pats. Maybe in his defense, he recieved lots of hate mail from Pats fans after his roughing the passer call. At least I hope so.

OK.
It is defensible to think that
the refs are doing the best they can, OR
the fans of every team always think they get the short end of the officiating stick, OR
the Patriots benefit from bad calls (and non-calls) too.

But will someone who subscribes to any or all of that
kindly explain the almost airtight denial of error ... the outspoken exculpation ...
that the league broadcasts every week about controversial calls.

Seeing systematic injustice everywhere ... MIGHT be all a self-delusion in our minds.
But doesn't piling systematic dishonesty on top of those perceptions
tell us for sure that such outcomes are
intended and desired?

With NFL Ticket I watch a lot of games and I'd guess there are fans of every team that think the refs are outto get them. They make bad calls against every team. If a bad call decides a game then your team didn't do enough not to be in the position for it to make a difference.

As long as we don't get Jeff Tripplette's crew in the playoffs, I'm not too worried about the officiating.

No, there is no referee conspiracy. Stop talking about crap like this.

Referee's make mistakes and fans only see plays the way they want to see them.

What's more when you spew this horse**** it devalues the 2001 championship and the 2003 championship since both of those seasons the Patriots got some pretty favorable calls.

So the only reason we won before is because the Refs wanted the Pats to Win?

That's pretty insulting - sounds like stuff we used to see trolls posting here.
