During his interview on WEEI today Belichick was asked about Chad Jackson and his 19 appearances yesterday. Belichick replied that he was only in for 4 plays and at that he was not the primary weapon.
Fred or DeOssie said the reporter was certain he was there for 19 plays....to which Belichick replied "Yeah, most of those were running plays and stuff like that."
Call me a fool but I believe this was a calculated move by Belichick. Perhaps realizing that Jackson has more to give .... which is a Belichick specialty ... sitting the bench and/or being put on the injury list is not doing the trick .... relegating him to scribes status on the field is an ego bruiser for some players for sure .... let's hope it works.
hard to tease a player not getting in a game .... that could help or hurt depending on the player....much easier to tease a player with "were you really on the field" jokes by the veterans.
BTW....Love that game after interview with Belichcik....he is very at ease with the Big O, Fred & DeOssie. Granted, lots of softball questions but it's still fun to hear Belichick talk football which he usually does not do with the general media.

I didn't get the same impression of the conversation you did. BB agreed that most of the plays Chad participated in had been running plays, but went on to say [paraphrase]that he is confident in Chad, that Chad's time will come, and that much as everyone doubted Cory Dillon's ability to carry the load the last few weeks and Corey had proven them wrong, Chad would do the same. He added, Chad will catch his passes and play a larger role in the future, it's just last week wasn't his week for that. All in all, very encouraging from BB regarding this prospect so disparaged and vilified by many "fans".

Good post...right on target.
Disparged and vilified with no reason IMO. There were many in the NFL that felt that despite his huge potential, Chad was not ready for the NFL...thus he slipped to the 2nd round.
There were more than a few Patriots fans who were well aware that Jackson needed some work to be ready to play in the NFL. We had seen this with Graham and Watson to name a few. So, why did we think a 2nd round pick would play right away??? Belichick never, ever gave this impression to us.
Add to that the absolute solid system of earning your play on this team...no player hits the field based on potential...we have not seen this form Belichick since he came here and I doubt we ever will. The only players who have bypassed this system are players like Koppen who were pressed to play due to injury.
Myself...I have no problem Chad has not played much this year...in fact, if i didn't see him until next year I would be fine with that. Players in this system always come back more physically fit both mentally and physically the 2nd year...of course they still have to earn their play and some have not even though they look the part that much better like Bethel did.
If it were uip to me I would ban negative talk about draft picks for at least 1 year....but it's not up to me and so we read all these "Bust" threads...too bad really ... especially considering none of us could ever even hope to be drafted or even know all the sacrifice it takes to play the game. Lots of sacrifice to have 3 or 4 balls thrown your way each week...sometimes only 1 or 2.
Given Jackson's injuries, it is too early to call him a bust. Given the recent production from the WR's , however, you would hope he could contribute a few more catches. Anyway, if he can stay healthy next year, hopefully he proves everyone wrong.
I think what concerns a lot of fans is the perception that the kid is not trying, or simply not getting it. With the front office's knack for drafting character guys, you have to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that this is not the case with CJ. Although they did wiff on Bethel though.
I stillbelieve, and I will say it again...I dont think the problem is with the wide receivers, as I think we have a pretty good group. I believe the problem, still, is with the routes they are being given to run....and the fact that, for whatever reason, the plays do not have much play action in them which would give the QB, and the receivers, just that extra second to make it work.
Idiot.
Oops, can't just post one word - not 10 characters. So we'll edit to:
Idiot, idiot, idiot.
There, that's better.

I'm not here to defend anyone but we are all part of a community here and I think we should give everyone regardless of who it is, some respect. Besides, posts like this say much more about the poster than the target.

ARE THERE KINDERGARDEN COPS AVAILABLE AROUND HERE? Frickin Babies.
Believe me, in that thread, that post was definitely appropriate. There were lots of people acting like little kids and they needed to be called out just like you were acting like a child with your "idiot" posts.
