Default Walter's must go, before the season is wasted

I was thinking that since we have a rooking kicker, why not bring in Danny Baugher

from the Patriots site

Quote:
Baugher, 22, was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2006 and was released by the Bengals on July 30. The 5-foot-10-inch, 194-pound punter attended the University of Arizona, where he was one of three finalists for the Ray Guy award as the nation’s top punter as a senior in 2005. That season he earned first-team All-America honors from Pro Football Weekly and third-team All-America recognition from the Associated Press. In his four seasons at Arizona (2002-05), Baugher recorded school records with 225 punts and 9,476 yards, averaging 42.1 yards per punt for his college career. His last name is pronounced "BAHG-er". Signed by the Patriots to the practice squad as a free agent on October 10, 2006.
Ken is just not performing well and why can't Cassell or some other player learn to hold for the Kicking Ghost?

please discuss

There's nothing to discuss, we all agree with you except for the one new guy, thomas something. Walter sucks and I can't believe he's back.

along those thoughts why not Flutie, didn't he in Canada pooch a bunch. I think the concern is holder not Punter. I feel with the rook kicking, BB likes an experienced holder handling his ball placement.

any word if Ghost has a strange holding style like Adam V does?

I'm fine with Baugher assuming his leg is healthy - he was hurt at the end of last year. Any kicker with a strong leg is fine with me. His downside (shanks) can't be any worse than Walter's downside and his upside must be better.

In terms of veterans, Todd Sauerbrun is the biggest name out there. He has a career average of 44.0 and averaged 43.8 last year. Compared to Walter's 39.7 career average.

but is still being part of the Steroid investigation from his Panthers days. I would assume his history of issues would make him an undesirable solution

wikipedia
Carolina is where Sauerbrun achieved his greatest success, as well as his biggest problems. He was picked for the Pro Bowl to represent the NFC in the 2002, 2003, and 2004 seasons. Sauerbrun also became the first player from either conference since the AFL-NFL Merger in 1970 to lead his conference in gross punting average for three consecutive seasons (2001-2003). However, during the 2004 season, the Panthers were riddled with injuries, and at one point, starting placekicker John Kasay suffered a leg injury, and the Panthers were forced to use Sauerbrun to replace Kasay. Sauerbrun refused to kick unless he was reimbursed for fines he incurred when he was overweight. In December 2004, he was charged with DWI, and he was recently named in an investigation of steroids use in the NFL linked to a Carolina doctor during the 2004-05 season. Sauerbrun has also been known for his long-standing feud with the Gramatica brothers, who are placekickers in the NFL, and why he was forced to be their kicker when Kasay got injured, as he refused to allow the Panthers to bring them in for tryouts. On May 19, 2005, Sauerbrun was traded to the Denver for punter Jason Baker and a 7th round draft pick in the 2006 draft. On July 7, 2006, Sauerbrun was suspended for the four games of the NFL season after testing positive for the banned supplement ephedra. On Tuesday, October 17, 2006, the day he was supposed to come back from his suspension, Denver cut him, favoring Paul Ernster.

He's past his suspension, the Broncos released him and stayed with their new guy. Given that Punters are barely part of the team anyway, and we have at most 7 games left, I don't think he would be much of a distraction, if any.

I think we all know that BB would want a veteran punter/holder this late in the season and if us no-nothings out here threw up in our mouths when we heard Walter was coming back, how do you think BB felt when Miller went down and kick-me Ken was all that was available?

more importantly, mikiemo, did you take a wrong turn coming out of Canton today -- I mean wtf?
