2. Welker
3. Edelman
4. Tate
5. Price
6. Aiken
If Tate keeps up his TC production, our 4-Wide sets should be absolutely dominating, given the O-Line gives Brady time to step up and make a throw.

While Simmons was reaching his goals, he made a decision to attend Hargrave Academy, a college preparatory Christian military boarding school in Chatham, Va. A few weeks before enrolling, a chance encounter with Jacksonville Jaguars' wide receiver Torry Holt, a native of Simmons' home state of North Carolina and former Hargrave attendee, gave him some insight about the military school experience. Simmons took that with him as he entered a year of hard work and discipline.

Very cool story. Nice find!

I hadn't really heard of this kid, so I pulled up some highlights of Oklahoma skill players. Sure enough, #74 stands out at LG: he's very smooth and coordinated, looks comfortable and determined in pass protection, and moves pretty fluidly to the second level. Honestly, he looks like a prototypical Patriots player. I would love for him to beat the odds and make the squad.

Definitely rooting for him.

There's no proven depth on the outside there with Holt gone. The notion that Aiken is a "proven" anything other than 'nonentity' as a WR is amusing, though. It is, in fact, a pair of 3rd round receivers that this team has to count on as WR3: one is in his rookie season, and the other had a lost rookie season due to injury.
I think that Edelman actually has the skillset to run the intermediate routes that would be effective opposite Moss. I would prefer to have Tate win that job (with the added dimension of going deep now and again), leaving Edelman as a backup to Welker or a second "slot" receiver in 4 WR sets, but I think he can fill that other outside role if necessary.

Of course, the fact that Edelman COULD do that doesn't make him proven, so your point still stands.

That's too bad about Holt, I've always liked him as a player. However, with Edelman possibly making a 2nd year leap, Tate improving and the rookie Price, it was going to be very difficult for Holt to make the team. In addition, I believe Hernandez is going to targeted a lot this season.

On a positive note, it's encouraging to see that the Pats are going to have 3 receivers (Welker, Edelman and Hernandez) that are going to command attention in the middle of the field. This should take a lot of attention off of Moss this season.
