Default Rookies Around the League

What rookies around the NFL have done better than you thought, worse, or the same after the draft? I'll list one below regarding Matt Leinart, who I thought was a no-brainer to succeed in the NFL. It's the pre-season, yes, but it can still reveal a little bit about future production.

CHICAGO (AP) -- Matt Leinart had one request for his head coach.

"Call anything," he told Dennis Green.
The rookie clearly was confident.

Leinart showed why the Arizona Cardinals selected him with the 10th pick in the draft, and the Arizona Cardinals beat the Chicago Bears 23-16 in Friday's preseason game.

He took over for Kurt Warner in the second quarter and completed 15-of-21 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown.

"I feel comfortable with the offense for the most part right now," Leinart said. "So they called a lot of stuff, and I just went out there and tried to execute."

Not surprisingly, Matt Leinart is having a great preseason.

We have yet to see how Leinart handles regular season games. For some reason, I just have this nagging wonder if he is really the kind of guy who will study as hard as he needs to and who will gut it out when times are difficult. I have no claim to a crystal ball - I just wonder.

The other hyped players that you have to wonder how they will do in the NFL are Bush, Young, and LenDale White. Preseason is a whole lot different than regular season.
