I seriously doubt that anyone will want to pay a 5'7" player who has been on the receiving end of passes from the best QB in football $7 million a year AND also toss in a draft pick for the heckuva.

Branch is severely overrating his worth in the free agent market.

Time and time again teams do this. Peerless Price. John Abraham. And that's before the draft, now the season's approaching.

Draft picks are of no use to us until next April. He won't be traded before next March unless there is a player coming in the deal who has the potential to be a #1. They would rather have Deion Branch under contract and needing to set himself up for FA. This won't go to week 10 for just that reason, but even it it did better to have that player in week 11 than some 2007 draft picks.
