Default OT: Official admits he screwed Seahawks in the Super Bowl

Steelers fans can now officially get off their high horses. As most of the country knew, the officials gave them the game. Now, one of the officials is admitting to at least part of it:

Quote:
"It was a tough thing for me. I kicked two calls in the fourth quarter and I impacted the game, and as an official you never want to do that," said the veteran of 15 NFL seasons and two Super Bowls.

Bwahahaha! The Steelers... not a pretty sight lately, in so many ways.

Yeah, but "My bad!" isn't going to cut it for the Seahawks or their fans.

Hey, I guess we're not the only team that people can say had at least one Super Bowl that was won unfairly! (in our case, it's "LOLOLOLOL U CHEETED!!!")

My bad doesn't cut it for the non-called sack of Eli that lead to the immaculate reception either does it.

I respect the jobs officials do. It's a tough gig at the best of times. That said they influence games because of their own mistakes far to often.

I was just about to comment on how the officials should've called in the grasp. I read an article where Mike Carey said he was very close to calling that but didn't want to decide the game on a whistle.

I wish I could say I feel better, but the sad fact is that I don't. It doesn't change anything. The Steelers still have the trophy, the rings, and are in the history books as having won that game. Oh well.

I give him credit for admitting it. However, I have respect for Ed Hochuli who admitted his mistake in the Chargers-Broncos game immediately instead of 4 years later.

SB 40 was one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen from start to finish. It was like they went in planning to screw over Seattle. They might as well have put striped shirts on the Rooneys and let them call the game.

2 calls? Just in the 4th quarter?

More like... I'm sure it was real tough for that crew to "kick" a call every single time Seattle had a big play. Other than the INT return for 80 yards or whatever (when the Steelers were up by double digits anyways), they brought back each and every big play Seattle made on some ticky tack garbage. It couldn't have been more blatant, WTH is the point in apologizing let alone 5 years later.
