Default Depressing but thankfully minor statistic

Mike Shanahan has won exactly one playoff game since John Elway's retirement.

I wouldn't read too much into that simply because he has bad luck with the seedings. The Broncos were incapable of beating the colts and year after year the Colts were their first opponent when the playoffs came around. Also, he had a playoff drought due to breaking in the still overrated Cutler.

Looking back now, it seems that Shannahan's struggles near the end of his tenure gave rise to the chargers that we play today.

Without checking the stats Shanahan seems to have done well against the Patriots. I was hoping that BB would hire him as OC but Shanahan found a deep-pockets guy to give him the HC position. But that won't last since Synder is such a jerk...almost certainly the biggest and most obnoxious jerk in profession sports.

Arguement 1: True, the Broncos of '03 and '04 couldn't get past the Colts. Would they have beaten those Patriots teams? How about Pittsburgh? Those Broncos were a 6 seed for a reason.

Arguement 2: Cutler was Shanahan's pet project. The '06 Broncos were on pace to win 10-12 games and challenge for the division title, then Shanahan pulled the plug on the season. Denver would have easily surpassed the wild card teams of that year (KC and NYJ) and would have given the 3 and 4 seeds (Indy and New England) a run for their money in the playoffs. The Cutler experiment was a failure. The guy sucks. Denver's better off with Orton.
