I don't think that deal is particularly egregious in terms of salary for a rookie. Whenever a rookie salary cap gets installed, I can't imagine a scenario where rookies are making much less than that. The biggest changes really need to be made within the top 15 range, particularly in the top 5 where players are walking away with 25+M guaranteed dollars.

That's very reasonable money for a late first rounder. I'm sure the owners are okay with that contract, and I don't see why the NFLPA would be celebrating over it.
