Re: Which one of these questions are you concerned most with in 2010?
The most concerning question heading into the 2010 season
1.) Who will emerge as our team leaders?
- This showed last year, in close games and critical moments.
2.) Will we have a decent scary Pash Rush?
- This affects the entire defense. With the way games are officiated now, it is vital to stop opposing offenses.
3.) Will the Jets and Dolphins prove they are better as advertized?
- The first thing any team focuses on is winning the division. Half is in your own control - your own performance. Half is out of your control - how well those other teams do.
4.) Can Mayo regain rookie form or even better?
- There's a lot of talk about the outside linebackers, but the play of the inside linebackers is just as important. Mayo had a down year due to injury, he should improve this season. McKenzie and Spikes should improve the position quite a bit even though they're unproven. Unfortunately their lack of experience will probably result in a couple of bad plays as well.
5.) Will Mankins return?
- The Pats are a better team with Mankins. But Vollmer replacing Kaczur and Kaczur replacing Mankins is just about a wash. It's not as big a deal as some are making it out to be in my opinion.
6.) Will Brady get his contract renewed during the season?
- The title of the thread had to do with 2010. Brady will get his deal when the new CBA is worked out, which probably won't be till next February or March at the earliest. When that happens Brady gets his contract. I don't see it being a problem this year - unless the media turns Brady's contract status into this year's version of spygate.
7.) Your own question that is not from the above (explain)
- There's a few. How about the offensive line, especially if/when one of the starters is injured? Is Butler ready to start? As more teams become more and more agressive on defense, can Light still hold his own as a LT? If Welker goes on PUP, can Edelman continue to take his place - or will opponents have enough tape on him to neutralize him? Are we expecting too much from three new tight ends?
8.) Will a good portion of our new rookies play well?
- See above. We as fans are counting on rookie and second year players who have not started previously at TE, CB, S, ILB, and OLB.
8.) Will Maroney finally show signs of consistency?
- Not really relevant, with Taylor, Morris and Fulk on the roster as well.
9.) Can Belichick handle it without no OC/DC?
- Over stated. He has an coaches in the roles of OC and DC even if they do not officially have those titles.
