Legitimate is a subjective term in this instance.

I don't feel his point was anymore 'legitimate' than any of your inane trade scenario's.

Its real funny watching you try to roast me for being a kid, when its you who type's like an over-excited, under-educated teenager.

The Patriots enter the uncapped year currently $15.8 million in salary below the 2009 Patriots team salary of $127.8 million.
well does he take into consideration the likelihood brady gets paid? im assuming the pats would want to heavy load it into this year so if the cap is reinstated its less of a burden. plus we still have some guys we will likely extend. and we have 4 draft picks in first 2 rounds. and im sure we are going to make another move or 2

First of all, LivingInthePast is agreeing with you. If you re-read his post it states "When was the last time the Patriots fielded a team that couldn't be regarded as a 'winning' one?"--Meaning that you are both on the same page and you are flaming him for no reason.

If you go back to page 1, someone responded "Not since we won the SB in 04-05," to which he states "Sadly that was the answer I was expecting."

Secondly, The Patriots went 10-6 last year, not 11-5.

Add in the RFA tenders and budget for the remaining roster spots (do they even have 53 players under contract at this point?) and I would think the 2010 "cap" for the Pats would end up being pretty high.
Apparently the OP didn't care about a reasoned debate, since he didn't bother to include the PFT link.

Salary cap report, if there were a salary cap | ProFootballTalk.com

Miguel's page says:

According to my figures the Patriots' 2010 cap figure is for $113,637,073 with 62 signed or tendered players.
I can't find anything about where the Pats were at this time last year, but did find a page that said the Pats were at 106M to start last year's free agency. And they eventually got to 127M. Doesn't sound like we are too far off that path.

The cap number is kind of an arbitrary figure. Actual cash spent is much different. The cap is just an accounting figure, and it contains monies from prior years which have been amortized.

Given the big contracts they have handed out, I imagine the Pats have spent a lot more in actual cash than a lot of other NFL teams.
