Tom will earn a salary this season of only $3,500,000, after a recent $3 million roster bonus. It is the last $3.5 million owed to him under his current contract. Tom has lost his best wide receiver, Wes Welker, and the Patriots have made no attempts to find a replacement in free agency. This only a year after letting Jabar Gaffney leave without a proper replacement.
Brady's top two tight ends have been let go as well, again without replacement.
At this point the team will most likely try to find Brady's receivers and/or tight ends with rookies, through the draft. This all in a uncapped year. ( If the Patriot adjusted cap from 2009 was still in place, the Patriots would be $21 million dollars below it. )
Is it possible that Tom Brady's absence at the opening of offseason workouts today was a message to management? A message that, if the front office won't make a commitment to the team, or to Brady, then he won't either?

In a parallel universe, Brady didn't know the voluntary off-season program had started. Larry Izzo also talked to a local news outlet about how much Tom wants to play for the Green Beans in Jersey. In other news, the economic downturn has hit the Brady/Bundschen family very hard. They are now on the fence about whether to have gold-plated toilet paper holders in the 8 bathrooms of their new mansion in Brookline, or solid-gold holders as originally planned.

No, it's much worse than that. Haven't you heard, they're having to use candles because their electricity was shut off.
He's with his wife and 2 cross country kids. In a perfect world he'd be in Foxboro, in this world it is what it is and it's fine. When he misses a passing camp - then he's angry.

It doesn't count when they're already on your team
Moss + Edelman = crap WR corp
Until Welker comes back Moss is going to be quadruple covered, Edelman will catch quite a few short passes while the other WRs try to figure out how to tie their cleats and keep their pads on right
Tonights opening story on Comcast Sports tonight at 10:00 pm was "Brady a no show at offseason workouts." Felger quoted Vince Wilfork as saying, "we all have to be committed this season, and the commitment starts now" at the first day of workouts. Felger added that Patriots management is refusing to comment on Brady's absence.
Ron Borges replied that "maybe Brady is lifting weights in Milan, or running laps in Rio." Chris Gasper from the Globe replied that "the team would like Brady to be there for the leadership aspect. "
Michael Holley said that Brady is "hanging out without Gisele", and that this is like Allen Iverson's, "PRACTICE ?, we are talking about PRACTICE? "
Of the four talking heads at the round table, Gasper was the most supportive.
