Lightbulb Belichick Will Take The Reigns

Ian's Daily Blog - The term “In Bill We Trust” just took on a whole new meaning. The team announced on Friday that the Patriots will not have a defensive coordinator in 2010, with head coach Bill Belichick instead working more closely with the defense next season. “Titles are fine, nothing wrong with them,” Belichick said, “but the most important thing [...]

I have no problem with this. It's been when he's tried to be the defacto offensive coordinator we've had problems. Get a professional.

Belichick inow is the defacto GM, the HC, the DC and the OC. He makes all cruicial personal decisions and makes all key play calls.

Kinda figured the Pats weren't getting a new DC. I actually thought that Kraft was going to buy a mannequin, dress it up with Pats attire with a clip board in its hand, then hire a young kid to move it around every 5 minutes so it looks as if we have a DC. Probably would have been more effective than Pees.

Belichick clearly knows Brown from coaching against him in the Division, but he must have received a pretty good recommendation from Charlie as well. I can see this working out really well, if Brown and BB can work hand in glove. Though I do wonder whether this decision has anything to do with BB not being ready to bring someone in as DC over Pepper Johnson's objections, who, according to some reports, expected to get the job. Any thoughts?

He takes ultimate blame. I'm not a big fan of this, not at all.

An apparent defensive guru taking on the mantle of defensive coordinator once more not going to work? Interesting logic given Wade Phillips made it work.

BB will do fine as DC
Offense will be a ongoing train wreck if O'Brien calls the shots
There is no way BB can handle both sides of the ball on gameday

This decision is a mistake
Pure and simple
