It's amazing how the admiration for what this franchise represents is far stronger outside of 495 than within. Teams bring their A game if not their Superbowl game when the face us for a reason. No other team faces that, not even Indy. Fans and kneejerk mediots here are so disappointed by not winning it all every season they have lost sight of what they have. Nobody wins every year. We have more than any other team in this decade. We are the benchmark. Even for Polian... Most other teams fans spew hate at us, but that's just a form of flattery... Even Rex spewing his blowhard drivel, that's just his insecurity born of admiration/fear talking.

Some day fans here will lament they biatched and nitpicked their way through a golden era in this franchise's history. In a way I guess that anger too is born of fear - that it won't last forever....

So, in other words, Patriots fans could live vicariously through the Saints if for one season, one Super Bowl.

YouTube - Peyton Manning Calling Darren Sharper Jamie Sharper

DAVIE, Fla. – On Sunday night, in an interview with ESPN during the Pro Bowl, Peyton Manning accidentally called Darren Sharper “Jamie.” Darren is the Saints’ safety; Jamie is his older brother, who was a linebacker for the Ravens, Texans and Seahawks.

Monday, Darren got his revenge while answering a question about Colts tight end Dall Clark.

“We know we have athletic linebackers who can match up with him and also have athletic safeties or whoever we decide to put on him,” Sharper said before delivering the punch line with a wry smile: “He’s a guy you have to watch out for and be aware of where he is because he’s Peyton’s – or should I say Eli’s – go-to guy.”

Sharper, who has intercepted Eli Manning four times in his career (and has returned three of them for touchdowns) surely wishes he was facing the younger brother of the NFL’s most famous football family. Then again, Sharper was just having a little fun with his verbal jab. After all, he’s learned over the past 12 years trips to the Super Bowl should be savored.

In 1997, as a rookie for the Packers, Sharper made a trip to the big game – only to have John Elway, Terrell Davis and the rest of the Broncos upset the Packers. Finally, in his seventh trip to the postseason since that year, Sharper is back in the Super Bowl.

So what kind of advice would the five-time Pro Bowl selection give his young self about the Super Bowl if he could talk to the young rookie?

“Take more pictures,” Sharper said before adding: “Personally, that game I did everything I was supposed to do as far as to prepare and to give us a chance to win. That’s what I would tell each and every guy – do all you’re supposed to do and prepare yourself as best as you’ve ever prepared for a game because this game is going to hang in the annals for years and everybody’s going to remember this.”
