Default Floyd Reese one of two finalists for Seahawks GM job [Update: Maybe not?]

BostonHerald.com - Blogs: Rap Sheet Blog Archive Floyd Reese is reportedly one of two remaining candidates for the Seahawks GM job

They have whittled it down from four candidates to two. The other three were Omar Khan (PIT), John Schneider (GB), and Marc Ross (NYG).

It looks like Reese will get the job! Bill O'Brien is hopefully out of here as well. Dan Pees wont be renewing his contract. Wtf is up with teams taking our personnel?

Carroll has total control in SEA-I.E. final say on all personnel decisions. The GM for the NEP manages the FO but come the FA and draft day periods, BB has final say on player acq.

Not sure if Caserio is higher on the pecking order than Reese but if he slides into the OC role (rumor started by Breer), it would then be interesting to see if BB moves Reese to GM or lets him walk.

That's not entirely true. If you read PFT, you'd know that it's a very fluid situation as to what type of control Carroll, CEO Todd Leiweke, and the new GM Will have in Seattle.

Carroll will have final say on who is on the 53 man roster. He may not have "total" control, but dictating who is on the roster is pretty darn close IMO.

My vote to replace Reese if he gets the job is George Kokinis. The guy got a bad deal in Cleveland. He was the director of pro personnel with Baltimore from 2000-2008 and he did play a part in their drafts that got them a lot of great players like Suggs, Ngata, and Reed. He also worked for Belichick in Cleveland.

I think the Patriots personnel are viewed a little higher to begin with based on reputation of the team. So I think that's why they seem to get more jobs than other teams. Not saying they aren't qualified because (most) are.

The Seahawks aren't hiring him based anything he did with the Patriots. First of all, he was here for one year. Second of all, from all reports he just handled contracts. Third of all, he didn't make decisions, Belichick did, and those FA/trade decisions were generally poor this past offseason.

But Reese has been in football for 40 years. The Seahawks didn't say "Oh, who's this Floyd Reese guy on the Patriots. He must have helped build their great teams. Let's hire him."

Source: Reports of Reese to Seattle are premature, at best | ProFootballTalk.com

Quote:
Per the source, Reese is not yet a finalist, and he might never be. "I don't think he gets the job," the source said. "I think he created the entire story. . . . [He] killed himself by blabbing to the media. That was a bad move by him."

This information meshes with a new item from John Clayton of ESPN.com, who reports that Packers exec John Schneider is still a candidate, even though he wasn't listed as one of the two finalists. Clayton also reports that a decision as to the two finalists has not yet been made.

Looks like we need a new GM. Hopefully someone with the balls to trade up and sign some FA's in their prime.
