High O-line picks are the most economical way to improve the team in that they improve the performance of every other player, even the defense, in that they perform at a higher level when the team is winning the time-of-possession battle. We have the tools, offensively. Last years offense could be best characterized by "under-utilized talent". The TE's had to stay in to block. Some games the WR's didn't have enough time to get open. The run blocking was anemic. RookBoston has taken to calling our team a "zone blocking" team. First I've heard it called that. Can't remember too many successful runs between the tackles last year. Sweeps, screens, yes, but Faulk's quickness was the only thing that got past the LOS between the tackles.
There doesn't seem to be a consensus for the worst player on the line. No one has stood out as being a consistent problem. IMO, we need to get a high pick and let him compete. If Neal goes, it will narrow our focus, then someone like Spencer or Jean-Giles will do. A 3rd rounder to develop would give us some competition at depth, too. Britt, Yates, et al need to develop a sense of urgencey.
