Patriots' loss meant busy day for stadium detail - The Sun Chronicle Online - News

I remember those days 25 years ago when the team absolutely sucked and could not buy a win and fans were out of control...apparently memories of the old days came back to the stadium sunday when the rout was on.

The story of the 9 year old girl getting lost in the stadium after being out of sight from her drunken father was disgusting.

As a long time former season ticket holder, I have seen some scary things at the old Foxboro/Sullivan/Schaffer Stadium from public urination on the benches in front of them to outright brawls in the stands. It would be sad to see those days return if serious football watchers start leaving.

I agree about the 9 year old girl story. I question a father's judgement of bring a 9 year old to a Patriots game in the first place. Unfortunately, even with all the improvements that the Krafts have done to clean up the stands of the stadium of the drunken morons, Gillette Studium can still be a very dangerous place for a pre-teen. I guess if you have a responsible and very attentive parent and you sit in the family section, it might be safe. But I know my brother who still has his tickets won't even consider bringing his daughters until they are about 12 or 13.

How about Kraft and the security make sure there is at least some kind of limit as to how much you can drink during a game,especially a playoff game where intensity is at its highest?

Imagine if there was a sobriety checkpoint outside of Gillette sunday...the entire state of Massachusetts prison systems would be filled to the max and thousands would probably lose thier license.

I am not doubting the report at all. The funny thing is there was no idiots in my section on Sunday and there is usually one minimally. While walking out towards the ramp, the only drunk idiot I saw was purposely trying to antagonize a Ravens fan by bumping into him hard. Lucky for him, the Ravens fan was there with his daughter and let the drunk's friend pull him away.

Drinking is fine if under control.....Total Intoxication and numerous fans being out of control in a stadium with nearly 65,000 other people in it is another thing

With 66,000 people in the stadium, I don't know how you can monitor how much each person drinks. They should be careful not to serve people who are clearly intoxicated, but who is to stop someone's friend for buying beers for him. I have been to other stadiums and I know that the Krafts do a better job than most that I have experienced in trying to keep law and order in the stands.

I still don't get why someone would spend several hundred dollars to get bleep faced at a game. I go to the games to watch the game first and formost. I also go for the gating and the the crowd atmosphere, but you really can't enjoy that if you are falling over yourself. You can do that home for free.

So that was a total of 76 people taken into some form of custody out of 67,000 according to the article? I'm not saying that isn't 76 too many but is actually less than I would expect to see at a concert/sporting event with that crowd size.

I don't know why they get drunk out of their head either - If you are spending $200 to see a game you might want to catch it all while at least 90% sober..right?

There is a club in my area that gives a number of tokens or something of that sort to people in order for them to get drinks,once they use up thier tokens they can no longer get alcohol that evening - That may not work in a major sports stadium but IMO was not a bad idea for a small club who wants to keep people in line.

I have a friend who serves beer at the stadium and he tells me servers are under very strict order to turn away anyone who appears in the slightest bit, intoxicated, but people keep finding ways to get around it, e.g., drinking before the game and nursing their intoxication with stadium beer bought by other people. He says their only hope is that they get away with keeping order for the most part despite the huge flow of alcohol.
