And oddly, it was in back-to-back weeks at Mile High after we both spotted them to 10-0 1st half leads, only to lose on backbreaking plays late in the games.
Apparently, the Broncos weren't good all year, they just happened to get lucky breaks in the first 6 games, then their true colors showed after their bye week.
Was it the playcalling that killed us?(i.e. somehow, Jason Garrett thought it was a brilliant idea to test Champ Bailey near the goalline late in the game-ended up being a 10 pt swing)

Wasn't Moss or Welker playing hurt in that game?
Also Brady was still struggling and the Pats still took it to overtime. I think this time around things would be much different

It was irritating because clearly Dallas and New England were a lot better than Denver, it was just dumb play calling and lack of execution on offense. I remember Romo testing Baily twice while he was guarding Sam Hurd when Crayton was wide open in the end zone. It was kinda of bizarre that Romo's first and only read was Hurd when Baily was guarding him.
The following week, Brady had Moss wide open for a would be 40+ yard walk in touchdown but Brady over threw Moss. This would've put the Pats up 14-0 instead of 10-0. Other than that, the Pats play calling has been really bad and very predictable. This has been a hot topic on these boards as they're probably a hot topic on the Cowboys board.

We have a "concede the short stuff" defense that let Orton rip us apart 8-10 yards at a time. Orton looked all world against the hapless Pats.
Yes, the Pats defense looked pathetic on two touchdown drives, but they did hold them to 17 points in regulation. One play that really pissed me off was that tipped pass on third down that Gaffney caught. It was dumb plays like that, that kept the Broncos in the game.

The backbreaker for us was Terrence Newman misplaying the ball after he had Brandon Marshall covered, then Marshall somehow caught it, and thanks to poor tackling, he walked into the endzone for 50 yards. I also couldn't believe Wade Phillips, yet again, played prevent late in the game and dropped D-LINEMEN in coverage to boot on that play.
Newman is our 2nd best D player(next to Ware, of course), but this wasn't the first time he made a mental lapse late in the game that costed us(i.e. the SD game on 3rd and long when he forgot to bump Vincent Jackson in Cover 2).

Playcalling is always a hot topic on any board when a team loses. It's the easiest criticism to level when you don't know what actually happened but you're sure it shouldn't have...
Denver actually has a very talented team and it was executing well enough out of the gate to take advantage of momentum born of some luck and lack of execution on the part of it's opponents. There was also no film to study on this Denver team since the QB and HC and defense were all new. As other teams improved execution and compiled film on Denver momentum swung in the other direction.

Denver's offensive line also broke down, in large part due to injury, and that's been a huge part of the problem. Patriots fans can relate to that, I'm sure.
