I'm sorry, but suggesting that two guys who had an opportunity, and were cut, and have gone on to do absolutely nothing this year would've saved the season is just absurd.
Nowhere did I say that they would have saved the season. Just suggesting that they would be better options as our 3rd WR than Aiken.

For anybody to be bringing up Joey Galloway at this point is ridiculous...he proved in the first few games of the season he just wasn't going to click with this offense.
Aiken is more valuable on special teams, but he does have the ability to stretch the field and really should have caught the pass in question here - although the official who was standing right there missed a blatant pass interference call.

They all suck. They're all doing nothing in the league this year. Aiken is better on special teams and that's why he's here. Can we all just agree on that and put this to bed?

Why should people agree on it when it's a terrible assertion made worse by a followup assumption? Again.... Galloway had 7 catches in just 2 games, while Aiken has just 17 catches in 9 games.

i've seen improvement in more calculated drives but they still have moments of trying to swing for a homerun at ill advised times.
this attempt pretty much summed up the season IMO
This is exactly the opposite of how I saw it. In teh first half the Pats would usually mix short and long plays really well, and while a long incompletion might stalla drive sometimes say would mostly march down the field very well.
Then in the fourth to protect the lead they would mostly rely on the run and short pass. The defense would defend the short middle and shout doen Welker and the run game and we were shot.
The long pass to Aiken, was low Percentage, but it helped to create the hole, that Maroney used to seal the game at the two minute warning.

Agreed. There was some extra attention for Moss and Welker so the open guy was Aiken in single coverage.
And I was actually a bit glad to see the long ball to Aiken to try and win the game. Too often, the Pats have been guilty of playing ultra-conservative in the second half in trying to close out games. And as Kulko referenced, it stretched the field so Maroney could take care of business.
In previous games this season, we would have seen 2 conservative runs, then a short pass attempt to Welker to try and see if he can perform a miracle. They went for the win, and I'd like to see more of that.
Re: Long missed bomb to Aiken at the end of the 4th
It always seems like Aiken has a guy right inside his shirt, I mean come on man get open, find the seam, shake the defender............your not against the #1 CB for cripes sakes!

I guess drafting BUMS like "I never play cuz I suck" Wheatley,"see the back of my Jersey as I get burned...AGAIN" Wilhiite, and "maybe my knee will let me play by my 4th year" Tate, wasn't good enough,we've got a guy that is giving Matt Millen a run for his $ by drafting a mediocre special teams player and giving him 1st Rd. cake.
Pass rush? Uneccessary when you have 72 CBS playing.
Lbs? What for, we have no pass rush, they gonna chuck it at our lousy CBS...all 72 of them bums
Re: Long missed bomb to Aiken at the end of the 4th
Aiken has made a couple of long TDs this year, so let's not kill him. He was interfeered with on that last one, the guy pulled his hand away just before the ball got there, still he should have come down with it. Once again the loss of Tate is huge. He could have really developed by now (if he was playing).
