Usually in locker rooms, the veterans police this type of activity. With Wilfork/Bodden having contract issues, Sanders riding the pines and AD doing his best imitation of the invisible man, it really falls to Warren and/or Mayo to have the chat with the youngsters.

It is very sad to see a young veteran like Merriweather playing the fool like that.

This is an excellent point.

I think it's more of an inherent personality trait to take losing so easily. Welker surely wasn't used to winning before he got here, but he has the competitive fire and desire that this team desperately needs as a whole unit.

I'm thinking that was part of the reason Seau was brought back as well, but it doesn't sound like he (or anyone else) is doing a whole lot in terms of off the field leadership.

A lot of this is BB's own doing. You pick up guys from losing organizations who have never won anything. Losing is normal for these guys.

You dump all veteran guys during 1 off season and expect rookies and 2nd year players to pick up that slack and know how to be professionals.

Lose your right hand man and OC and replace them with a wide receivers coach and a person who has never called plays before.

I was talking about the defensive side. The offense has tons of leaders most of those guys have a sb ring

It was just an example of someone used to losing who doesn't take losing easy. I think there's a certain competitive fire that some players just have and while constant losing may drain that energy, a new team with a history of winning surely should have re-lit that competitive fire. That's assuming that some of these guys once had that competitive desire, maybe these guys just grew up without it. Whatever the case I surely hope they find it sooner rather than later.
