Actually, if the Pats go 4-1 the rest of the way they win the division regardless of what else happens, even if Miami and/or the Jets go 5-0 the rest of the way. Even if the Pats go 3-2 then either of those two other teams would not only have to go 5-0, but also win a tiebreaker.

In other words while it would be extremely beneficial to beat Miami, it's actually not a do-or-die game for the Pats.

they are going to win the AFC east the jets and fish are both no better then 500 team's at best

i would just like to see them win on the road at lest one time ill take 3 out of 5 win both home game's and go 1 and 2 on the road

the bills are playing better and they did and all most beat the pats week one

the fish do a good job on brady at home

and houston can put 30 on the pat's

even with that said all of the road team's are bad its just that the pats have played so bad on the road this year that i just cant see them going 5-0

Where do you see these two losses? They have Carolina and the Jaguars at home and Buffalo, Houston and the Dolphins without Ronnie Brown on the road. They will beat both Carolina and the Jaguars because there average road teams and frankly, average teams in a hole. I see possibly the Houston game as there only tough game left. They go at least 4-1 in this stretch.

He doesn't. He's just an idiot. Ignore him.

Basically, you have a bye week to prepare, then a home game with a fired up crowd. That gives you a 50/50 shot at going to the AFCCG.

The #2 seed is sooo important, and we most likely will not have it now. We'd need both SD and CIN to falter down the stretch, and I don't see BOTH losing their edges down the stretch. On top of that, we'd have to run the table.
I think this actually undersells the importance of getting the 2 seed and the Pats chances of getting it.

On the Pats chances, they don't need SD and Cincy to "falter." The Pats do need to run the table, and if they beat Miami there's absolutely no reason they won't do so. Obviously when SD and Cincy play each other, one will lose. All the Pats need is for the winning team to lose a game. The odds are much better that happens than it doesn't.

On the importance of the #2 seed. The 2 seed has a much better than "50% chance" at the championship game. You've got 2 weeks to prepare for a home game against a team that has to play the week before--that game isn't a coin toss. It's HUGELY important to get it.

And for the record, I think the Pats will.

See my post on the previous page (#18)

Once I saw the SD/CIN schedule and knew they had to play each other still, I whole heartedly agree with you.

And as far as the 50% chance of going to the AFCCG, you're right, the proper statistical analysis gives the home team a chance in the low 60's, but I was just generally speaking.

I called 4/5 and stand by it.

But we need to beat Miami. When we beat Miami and Buffalo....

-technically we would need just 1 more win that scenario.^

3 wins against the right opponents will get us into the Playoffs

The biggest thing now is if another team ends up with the same record, chances are they win the tie breaker.

We have to run the table or we'll be on the road in the playoffs, and this is not a good road team.

very true..... looks like we gotta be like the 2007 Giants in the sense we must win and play starters up until the end of regular season play.
edit- ( they did not have to play their starters against PATS, but did.)

Giants were a GREAT road Team in 2007

and in 2009 the PATS suck on the road.

**** on a brick
