Default Rookies

Lost in all the doom and gloom is the fact that a lot of rookies are making contributions.

Vollmer: Played a great game against one of the top DEs in the business
Edelman: Caught 2 passes and scored a TD.
Stanback: Caught 2 passes and played a lot. Good first game for just coming odd PS.
Ingram: Don't hear his name called. For a long snapper, that is a good thing.
Butler: 7 Tackles
Chung: 4 tackles and good work on special teams working against the Gunner.
Pryor: Played some and had one tackle.
Brace: Got some playing time. Assisted on a tackle. Didn't really notice much else.

That is 8 young guys getting some valuable experience. Add to the mix, the contributions of second year players like Mayo, Guyton, Slater and Wilhite and third year player Meriweather. The Patriots also have 7 picks in the first two rounds of the next two drafts. I think the future will be very bright for the Patriots. Or is it wrong to be optimistic after a disappointing loss?

This is and will be a memorable rookie group, very impressed particularly with the D-Backs...

It's a great looking group and we should have more to come next year with the expected return of Tate and McKenzie. Things look good for the first half of next decade as Brady and Moss round out their careers (Brady later than Moss, likely, given the positions) but I'm still thinking about yesterday

Stanback is not a rookie (drafted by DAL in 07) but I get your point. He played ok last night for sure.

I doubt I have been able to sleep at all, I have replayed so many instances of the game in my head. I am still doing it. I need a distraction.

Can stanback put on more weight and become a TE? He doesn't really have WR speed. I really don't see him staying on this team for long.

Next year may be a loaded draft. The good juniors will declare to

avoid a firm rookie salary cap.
