Re: Who is your Patriots MVP on Offense and Defense
As Farn pointed out, Brady is the MVP of the offense. I mean, we all LOVE Welker, but he isn't even the most valuable receiver on the team, let alone overall offensive player.
Without Moss or Welker, the offense will have trouble. Without Brady, we have no offense.
I'd go with Meriweather with Mayo a close close second.

That's open for debate, Satch.
I think a lot more than you'd realize would think Wes is more important than Randy.
Not that I am trying to second guess you--just saying
If I personally had to pick between an injury to one or the other, I'd probably rather lose Randy for a game or 2, rather than lose Welker. Regardless, they both complement each other, so the point is probably moot.

Polamalu is arguably the best defensive player in the league.. so it is a stretch. It isn't that hard to argue that with a better defense (i.e pass rush), Meriweather could develop into a Polamalu type safety.
Anyway, my MVP's would definitely be offense - Welker and defense - Meriweather or Banta-Cain.
Re: Who is your Patriots MVP on Offense and Defense
My mid-season MVP on offense goes to Brady.
Brady struggled with his timing early on, but has come around and last season's an afterthought. Might be an early candidate for regular season MVP.
My mid-season MVP on defense goes to McGowan.
The Bears don't miss him (Danieal Manning is playing well), but McGowan has been an off-season find for the Patriots. Maybe, not since Vrabel has a signing worked out this well.

Wow... 2 people referenced my opinion as legit ? Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore. Weird.
I also agree with the dude who said Moss makes Welker a better player. Not saying Wes doesn't really, really help - but I think Moss makes the whole offense better (not to mention the occasion defensive pick).
Re: Who is your Patriots MVP on Offense and Defense
I love Welker and think he is by far the best slot receiver in the game, but better than Moss? Really? I know Moss is starting to get older, but the guy is still one of the top 5 Receivers in the game right now, let alone all time.

I love the play were Wes lines up behind Randy ... their experience and savvy is incredible on that play. Hard to see on Tv but at the stadium it is very apparent they work together on every passing play and they both made great decoys for the Aiken receptions.
Re: Who is your Patriots MVP on Offense and Defense
McGowan has been more of an impact player than Brandon Meriweather. People are just wanting their fanatasies of Meriweather becoming the next Ed Reed to become a reality such that his decent play this year is magnified in their eyes.
McGowan makes something good happen every single game.
