Default Bill Belichick joins The Big Show to discuss Sunday's win against the Titans

Highlights from Bill Belichick on WEEI “The Big Show”

On BenJarvus Green-Ellis on the flea-flicker…
It was very well-executed. Wes was actually on an over route and Randy was on a deep post, but had Wes just kept going, he would have probably been five yards behind the defense too. You don’t want to have both guys running in the same place, but it was a play where had we had the pattern reversed — had Randy been under and Wes had been deep — Wes would have been five yards behind them. So, it had a lot of sell to it, and it was great protection. BenJarvus sold it and drew everybody up there. Tom made a great throw and Randy ran through it.

On being in the two-minute drill before the half with a big lead…
It’s halftime. We’ve seen those games before. Last year in the Arizona-Jets game. Buffalo game against Houston. The Tampa and Indianapolis game a few years back. It’s halftime. We’re still trying to score. We’re still trying … the games not even half over. We’re still trying to score.

On Adalius Thomas been inactive — is that a week-to-week thing, or is it more permanent than that? Was it merit or was it a matter of the game plan for the day?
We have a lot of … we had a lot of healthy players on defense and with Junior in, that gave us an extra inside linebacker, which we really haven’t had. With Eric Alexander, primarily a special teams and contributing in some sub defenses, and Junior being a little more of a first- and second-down type of linebacker. That kind of squeezed us a little bit. We made one of our defensive linemen inactive and two of our defensive backs. Pierre and Rob Ninkovich both have significant roles in the kicking game and also have played on defense last week against Denver. And of course Derrick and Tully, so you can’t have everybody there.

Was Adalius here yesterday?
We talked to him … we had a meeting Sunday morning. We told most of the inactive players at that meeting Sunday morning what their status was.

Are inactive players required to stay here with the team or can they leave?
It can … it can be either one.

Do you have a problem with him leaving?
Oh, no no no. I don’t think he ever … I don’t think he left. I think after the meeting, we tell some players they don’t have to be at the game

Bill had a serious pause when he answered that one ... added intrigue IMO.

Not that I don't love, admire and respect him but he's lying through his teeth there. No way all those things congealed to make it just a coincidence AD was the odd man out.

I agree, Belichick is doing one of 2 things, get Thomas to play what he is getting paid for or, has seen enough and is ready to move on...

it kinda sound's like AD will not play again for the pats and they cut TBC

are they moveing guyton to OLB and seau to ILB as a starter

or have they seen a nuff out of the LB to know they cant play the 3-4 full time

i guess burgess was a better trade then we think he's out playing AD and the pats sack leader TBC

I agree with your agreement. I think BB just wants Thomas to earn a bit of what he is being paid because Thomas's play is nowhere near what he is being paid.

Where did you those numbers. A quick check of Miguel's pages show that they are seriously wrong.

TBC's salary was $620,00 with no prorated signing bonus and he counted even less against the cap because of vet minimum.

That’s what we always do, and I think the last nine years we’ve put a pretty competitive team out there on the field every year. I think that’s how you do it – you get good football players. Sometimes they are not always at the No. 1 position, but I don’t think you pass up good football players to get the guys who aren’t as good just because they’re at a position that somebody feels you need.”

I dunno, that sounded pretty funny just reading it--must have been hysterical hearing it.

I'm definitely going to have to listen to that one. He had as good an answer as he could hope to come up with, and it still adds up to AD not getting it done. As for not having him on the sidelines, he probably figured AD would be a restless distraction, like Garnett when he was out for the Celtics - only worse, because he was shocked and angry. "Go ahead up to the press box and chill out, AD."

Or maybe he showed up to the stadium in inappropriate attire.
