On All-Access, I found Seau's answer to "How good can this team be ?" to be quite interesting.
He basically said that talk is useless, but actions are what counts. The words, though, were not as interesting as the confidence in his voice. I don't think Seau is coming to the East Coast just to fart around... we'll see in the weeks leading up to Inday if this team can step up.

We can absolutely play better ... and I'm sure we will. Brady and the offense will get better and the defense is growing by the week. We'll still lose a few games but we'll be way better by week 10 than we are now. I just hope our running game improves because it looks like it's going to be a very cold November and December.
He's still got the ability to be a big run stopper, if last season is any indication. I have to think that he'll be taken out in passing situations. The one thing that he'll bring to this team that is more valuable than anything that he can do on the field is leadership, though. This squad has been sorely missing that this season and, as much as I hate to say it, Jerod Mayo hasn't been ready to assume that role on this team. Hopefully he can pick Seau's brain this year.

haveing mayo and seau back will make the run D better
and if they move guyton to OLB he's speed may give some pass rush
but the pats do not have a passrusher that will get double teamed to free up TBC burgess and AD
they do not have a play maker at DB
the runing game will be a no show all year because they only get 20 att a game
bardy will have 25 TD and 4000 yerd's
this is a 10 to 11 win team
but that dose not mean they cant win a SB if they can make the playoffs and get hot
as we seen over the year's its not the team that win's the most game's in the regular season but the team that get's hot at the right time that win's the SB
I don't think he's coming in to shake up the lineup on the field all that much (run stopper, yes)... I just enjoyed hearing him talk with confidence.
The NFL season is such a rollercoaster ride for fans anyways... one second everything is lost, the next, it looks like the playoffs are a lock. Even in the best of times, there were crazy happenings - like the bomb to Try Brown after a missed FG or a Bruschi INT in the snow or a really bad late season Miami loss that seemed like a sign of trouble, but really wasn't at all.
Here's hoping for another epic streak of good playing.
In passing, the NFLN mentionned the 44 games without consecutive losses, another amazing stat. After this run is over, there'll be so many ridiculous stats it'll be hard to imagine. I think the craziest is the two long REG season win streaks.

The 44 comes right after the 53 game streak that was broken in '06 which is more amazing (49'ers lead with 60).
Perhaps the biggest thing Seau bring is his manic energy and enthusiasm. Brady says when he comes to the Stadium and hits the gym at 6:45 a.m., Seau is already in a sweat.
He'll be an emotional leader. Can't go wrong with this one.
This one piece should make a big difference....as mentioned the run D esp.
We need LB help and maybe this will free up Burgess and Thomas a little more.
I really like this defense....its coming together.

LOL. The dude will be on California time for a couple of months, with all the travel. He'll be awake at 3:30, hitting the gym by 4:30, and impressing the heck out of everyone.
I was skeptical when he came back last year and was pleasantly surprised. This move is something that will pay off more off the field than on. Hope he can keep playing till February...

This offseason, it's almost like Belichick is saying, "I'm never going to let that happen again."
