Meriweather is one of the leaders of this defense going forward. However, the Denver loss was one of the toughest games Meriweather has had in a while. With experience will come consistency.

Its funny how last week people were comparing Meriweather to Troy Polamalu. He is only in his 2nd year, hes going to have bad games. He will be a very good safety by the end of his career

Some more 'grades' for comparison.

Steve DeOssie of WEEI says that 'D' wasn't for 'Defense' this time around. DeOssie gives the offense a D-, the defense and the coaching a D, and special teams a C. I do find it a bit ironic that had Gostkowki's missed field goal not sailed by a matter of inches then we fans are looking at a win, yet that unit's "C" was the highest grade DeOssie handed out.
Quote:
Most of the time, the Broncos defense had someone over the top of Moss and clamped down hard and quick on the other receivers. The Patriots had better get used to that coverage. They have seen it in three of their five games — and some of it in the other two. Wes Welker told us on Monday that the seemingly errant pass by Brady on the wide-open seam route was a misread on his part. The group needs someone to at least draw the attention of the safety on the side away from Moss. Joey Galloway was supposed to be that guy, but for the second straight week he was a healthy scratch.

Jeremy Gottlieb of Patriots Daily goes into more detail on Making The Grades, Game 5 at Broncos. Overall he gives the offense and defense a C and the coaches a C+; his highest position grades go to the running backs, tight ends, and defensive line who each get a B.

Secondary: C-

The worst game of the season so far for the DBs. Other than McGowan, who registered nine tackles, two pass deflections and a fumble recovery, no one had anything to brag about. Brandon Meriweather followed up his game ball from the Baltimore win with a gigantic dud. He was consistently out of position, overran multiple plays, was dragged at least five yards by former Pat Daniel Graham on a third quarter play and, perhaps most conspicuously, cost his team 15 yards by taunting Denver receiver Eddie Royal on an incompletion near the end of the 98-yard drive. Yikes. Corners Leigh Bodden and Shawn Springs took turns being abused by Denver’s Brandon Marshall, each of them looking awful on Marshall’s two scores, respectively. Bodden led the team with 11 tackles, but that’s a deceiving stat that pretty much only means he was bringing down players who made catches in his general vicinity.
